I like programming and solving puzzles. Banner art game: "Tunic".

Cairn is more about how to push yourself beyond your limits, and sometimes set aside the unimportant things to focus on what really matters. That's how I experienced it. The challenge is still high, but you can pause, chill, and explore a vast new world.

The 'this game saved my life' review pattern on Steam is real and not exaggerated. single-player narrative games with depression/anxiety themes have documented community effects that go beyond gameplay. #gaming #indiegames

True. Several games helped me during my burn-out, like Tunic, Animal Well or Cairn. Just environmental games, taking your time to reach an objective and moving on, step by step. No talking, no noise, just environmental sounds... Those games hit my Top 10 games of all time for that experience.

Pretty sure the guy is jdh (come on, he has the same voice!!!), and happy to see that people are coming back more and more to the C programming language. C is so much simpler and powerful than C++ in my own opinion, and I prefer it to other languages as well. www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqEe...

It is always a pleasure when people comment about their past history developing games and tools for games. Very cool story (found in "How the Game Boy Advance's graphics modes made it so advanced"). Thanks for sharing it!

For everyone new here: I have the art vision, I did the sketches, and I "just" need someone to transform those sketches into art :) As an example, I already have a prototype of the game, that I am posting here. The "carton-pâte" style of the sketches is intentional (really).

I would finalize a first begin-to-end game for September / October to make sure the puzzles are correct, the gameplay is fun, etc... And then moving on replacing my sprites with the new ones. The prototype and the source code of the game will be available to the artist for its needs.

I did post on Mastodon a part of the prototype: mastodon.gamedev.place/@k0pernicus/... As you can see in the first level we have the "forest biome", which consists in trees (yes, those are trees) and cameras attached to it. The "carton-pâte" style attached is intentional (really).

I have the art direction, the vision and some inspirations I can share without any problems. Some (bad) sketches that I use for the prototype as well. Basically I would like to have someone to "translate" those sketches and weird stuff I did into art...

Indeed, I currently did everything with 1-bit in mind, and used dithering for the style. I am not good at design things, but I have the vision of the things, I "just" need someone to put my sentences into PNGs haha :) Will contact you soon, thanks.

Hey! Good question. My game is an isometric sokoban game, with 4 different perspectives of the main board game (that you could switch with the crank). I have a parodic vision of James Bond & Inspector Gadget in my mind for that game. I think we can do it in full 2D with 4 "sides" per item / board.

Hello! Thanks! As it is an isometric game I would like to have 4 different "sides" of each element. So, either a 3D model and I capture myself the 4 sides (for 4 sprites), or if this is easier to do in 4 different 2D sprites... It depends of the difficulty to make 2D / 3D, and the price ofc

I start to look for someone to draw me 1 bit assets (2D / 3D) for my #Playdate game, for October / November. I am not rich (at all), but of course I will pay for it. #NoAI , human made only. So, if you are looking for a tiny contract, then please contact me (with a portfolio if you have one)!

Anyone here has a good resource about architecturing lua code for game projects? (not necessarily for playdate)
000
Antonin Carette @k0pernicus.bsky.social · 18/08/2026
After this big pause I took a fresh look at my lua code and... oh god. I made a lot of mistakes! First, I architectured my lua playdate game as a C project, which is absolutely not correct because of some specificities of lua. Also, I wasted performances on some locals, very bad "namespaces", etc.

Because of all the work stress I didn’t get much into programming at home. In that end, I missed the holiday period to release my #Playdate game. :( Now, I’m feeling better. I’ll spend time on it soon and book a demo for friends/family by the end of September… fingers crossed! Christmas release?

Please play "Animal Well". Solo dev, 7 years in the making, big secrets, custom engine made by hand... Awesome game, awesome tech. And, if you are interested in "the making of the game", there is an excellent documentary about it (youtu.be/tffo3U4owwE?...) that does not spoil anything of the game.

About "We Need To Talk About Leopold" I honestly thought it was a (bad) joke. But no, this is reality... shit ^^' "Le Bureau" is fantastic. I did watch a few episode of the US remake ("The Agency") but I did not enjoy that much the show... will retry in a few years maybe. Thanks for sharing!

GitHub can't even aggregate data properly... Their aggregated uptime is green (no incident) since three months, except that there is a disruption of their services PER DAY since almost a year now... Did GitHub fired all their engineers? (I know the response: #vibecoding)

Feels good to resign sometimes, especially when the job hurt you so much you were left burned out. I won’t return to web dev or generic software engineering, mainly because of the (toxic) AI-first approach I don’t share. I’ll rest, reflect, and focus on my own projects. Hopefully more blog posts.

I can't imagine what is happening in the head of those devs right now. They made an amazing engine. A great game. They have rare competencies, and shipped since years (even decades) awesome projects. And they are layed off because... their games were mostly played on (free) game pass. Aweful.

GFY @microsoft.com @xbox.com My respect to each person concerned by the layoffs today, and I hope they will get back to their feet soon. NEVER EVER accept an offer to Microsoft, for any product, position, or if they want to buy your company. Those persons are sincerely all evil. No exception.

"Coding is the easy part", but your services are still down inevitably. I wrote myself, using my brain and my hands, more performant and stable code than any engineer at Anthropic, and for a 10x less salary. There is no place for adults at Anthropic, only kids.

Antonin Carette @k0pernicus.bsky.social · 12/06/2026
"I don't write code at Anthropic anymore..." Guess what, we know! Just the fact to call people working at Anthropic "engineers" is an insult to real engineers. I am still amazed 99.99% of availability in services is now an issue. Ugh, amateurs.
