I totally wasn't expecting Tom Nicholas for a BOTC guest. I'm looking forward to watching him deal with this group of jokesters. I hope he, PFlax, Simon, and Ben form a Team Dad trust rectangle

I also got new glasses today. I can finally see without the blurriness caused by degrading lens coating! Note the vacant stare brought on by medication side effects

Picked up a fleece Star Trek robe since I'll be stuck in a hard collar neck brace for a month or two. It's super comfy and goes with my blanket and cardigan

After 3 doctor visits in under 24h, I finally have a date for spinal surgery #4. The surgery will be on October 9th, and I'll be in a hard collar neck brace for 4-8 weeks. Getting 2 titanium discs removed and the two vertebrae fused to the other two already fused

k_really @k-really.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

If you squeeze too hard, the discs might pop out like a Pez dispenser

It looks like I'm going to need a 4th spinal surgery. My spine is pushing my titanium discs into my spinal cord, so they're planning to fuse all 4 of the affected vertebrae in my neck into one big mega-bone. Another few months in the hard collar neck brace, and more titanium plates and screws.

Cat farts are a special kind of awful. My old cat, Pepper, used to lay on my chest while I was in bed with his butt in my face. I've awakened a few times to the smell of rotting BBQ sauce and burnt pennies.

Always good to have you back, and always good to take breaks. Big Internet hugs to you and Lady, and even stinky ol' Ose. Also, the new BOTC videos that came out yesterday were hilarious! Boomer sisters, Big Lyds, JD... Banger lineup.

I had an EMG done earlier today to test for nerve damage. Instead of a baseline sine wave, it sounded like my old noise-punk band, Quit. The doctor jumped a little when those signals got translated to sound by the EMG machine.

I don't think I've ever been more excited for a live-action BOTC, and I've been excited for all of them! YOMP, TLJ, MQ, HatFilms, Zero Degrees, the boomer sisters... Also, I met JD at a TLJ show in Glasgow and he was so sweet! He even signed my Mystery Quest shirt (after they signed my LP)!

Stoat might be the way to go. I posted a small explanation above

000

k_really @k-really.bsky.social · 10/02/2026

They don't have any of the age verification shit either. I'm currently waiting for my confirmation email so I can hop in and play around with settings (many features integrate what 3rd-party Discord bots do).

000

k_really @k-really.bsky.social · 10/02/2026

It might be worth looking into Stoat (formerly Revolt). It's an open source Discord clone without the BS monetization, ads, or restrictions on emotes, etc. They're experiencing a bit of instability at the moment (probably due to a massive influx of new users), but it looks like the way to go.

I've been working on putting together a modded Minecraft server for the fishcord. More details in the minecraft-chat text channel. Hoping to go live with it by this weekend.

I'm looking forward to EU or UK parliament videos with fully painted little MP mans and womans engaged in dice-based "negotiations." The "negotiation" map could shrink every round by having more water tiles replace land tiles around the edges.

It takes a lot of skill to find words close enough to "photosynthesis," "chlorophyll," and "cellulose" that auto-tune will rhyme them.

Surgery recovery is finally starting to go well. After spending the first 30+ hours with no painkillers (thanks, nameless pharmacy, for that and delaying an emergency prescription for 24 hours!). Can finally get out of bed on my own without feeling my nervous system burning. One day at a time.

010

k_really @k-really.bsky.social · 25/02/2025

So it turns out when a spinal fusion fails, it leaves behind scar tissue that needs to be removed. I didn't know that amount of pain is not just possible, but survivable. Holy shit. That's a feeling I don't think I'll ever forget.
