I also got new glasses today. I can finally see without the blurriness caused by degrading lens coating! Note the vacant stare brought on by medication side effects

Picked up a fleece Star Trek robe since I'll be stuck in a hard collar neck brace for a month or two. It's super comfy and goes with my blanket and cardigan

After 3 doctor visits in under 24h, I finally have a date for spinal surgery #4. The surgery will be on October 9th, and I'll be in a hard collar neck brace for 4-8 weeks. Getting 2 titanium discs removed and the two vertebrae fused to the other two already fused

k_really @k-really.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

It looks like I'm going to need a 4th spinal surgery. My spine is pushing my titanium discs into my spinal cord, so they're planning to fuse all 4 of the affected vertebrae in my neck into one big mega-bone. Another few months in the hard collar neck brace, and more titanium plates and screws.

I had an EMG done earlier today to test for nerve damage. Instead of a baseline sine wave, it sounded like my old noise-punk band, Quit. The doctor jumped a little when those signals got translated to sound by the EMG machine.

Surgery recovery is finally starting to go well. After spending the first 30+ hours with no painkillers (thanks, nameless pharmacy, for that and delaying an emergency prescription for 24 hours!). Can finally get out of bed on my own without feeling my nervous system burning. One day at a time.

k_really @k-really.bsky.social · 25/02/2025

So it turns out when a spinal fusion fails, it leaves behind scar tissue that needs to be removed. I didn't know that amount of pain is not just possible, but survivable. Holy shit. That's a feeling I don't think I'll ever forget.

I just woke up from a bizarre dream where I had a beginner DnD character that was a gassy bird called Toot Oriole, who layed D20-shaped eggs when super nervous. The bizarre part was that on a natural 1, I got turned into the character IRL (in-dream IRL? Help I am confuse)

fix their hearts or die

4 panel comic:

P1: Begins with a caption box. "There's a scene in Twin Peaks - The Return where David Lynch --as Gordon Cole-- utters the words:

Beneath, is a caricatured drawing of Gordon Cole saying "FIX THEIR HEARTS, OR DIE"

P2: Another caption. "Those words have been going through my head on repeat today"

Beneath, a silhouette of my head forms in negative space formed in a pink-red background. Within the head are multiples of the phrase spoken by Cole.

P3: A massive "FIX THEIR HEARTS OR DIE" dominates the panel, formed, again, in the negative space.

P4: Sandwiched between two caption boxes --one top, one bottom-- is the image of a man yelling with unbridled rage.

The top caption reads "so many people need to hear those words with their whole person--" The bottom finishes with "--however, maybe those people are already lost to us"

I think I'm going to try using the parts of my week with the least brain fog to stream some of those video games I play so many of. Torn between a chill time in Railroader, a stressful time in CK3, some glorp in modded minecraft, or some old fallbacks like KSP or Hitman.
