“We are grateful for the efforts made by numerous stakeholders, including the Dream, the Valkyries, the Hawks, State Farm Arena, and NBC Sports and USA Sports,” said Cathy Engelbert, WNBA Commissioner. “The change of venue dramatically expands the seating capacity and ensures that the Dream will be able to provide an extraordinary atmosphere for the first WNBA Finals game to be played in the Atlanta market since 2013. Same to all of that! We’re in Lakewood Heights so Gateway is pretty convenient as well but would’ve made the trek to Gas South, I assume the team worried if enough people would tho. I’ll never forgive the Hawks or whoever this Sombr artist is for this debacle.

My best guess is they decided Gas South is just too far (I fully recognize there are some Dream fans up that way but I’d imagine not the majority). All I can figure for McCamish is the Dream lose some of that built-in home court advantage of knowing the hoops, rims, locker rooms, etc? But idk

Yeah I wondered the same, but my best guess is the Dream having not played there would give up at least some of the sort of built-in home court advantage of knowing the hoops, rims, locker rooms, any other court oddities, etc. Can’t say it for certain but that’s all I can figure.
