"You can feel the passion." Tuesday night at Barclays Center felt like a time warp for the Liberty, who defeated the Lynx, 87-71, in Game 2. Here, @classicjpow.bsky.social recaps the team's performance and all of the special moments that happened in Brooklyn last night:

The wifi has been very rough in Barclays tonight, but just a note. Breanna Stewart hasn't sat all game.

Something else to keep an eye on is that Leonie Fiebich will start the second half with four fouls. Not ideal especially if the Lynx claw back into this one.

I'm sitting here next to Fiifi Frimpong and we just said to each other, where has this New York Liberty team been all year. They've out hustled this Lynx team in so many different respects. They lead the Lynx 49-37.

After the Liberty started hot out the gate leading 9-1, the Lynx got back into this and it's now 26-21 New York going into the second quarter. The Lynx have scored a bunch of their points attacking the Liberty's transition defense.

The New York Liberty may be the eight seed in these #WNBA playoffs, but as long as they have Breanna Stewart, anything is possible. Our @classicjpow.bsky.social reports out of New York's Game 1 win over Minnesota: www.theixsports.com/uncategorize...

Well, the Liberty are up 65-60 going into the fourth quarter. Breanna Stewart has been on triple-double watch with 26 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Leonie Fiebich hit three key three pointers in the third quarter.

I agree with Monica McNutt, I do think the Liberty are playing a bit too fast. And this has been an issue for the team all season long, this idea of knowing when to slow down and then actually doing it.

Lynx lead the Liberty 44-40 going into halftime. The Lynx bench is really stepping up. In my #WNBA league playoff preview for NBCSports, I predicted that Nia Brodie was going to the Minnesota's X-Factor. She's got 12 points and hasn't missed a shot. www.nbcsports.com/wnba/news/20...
The Lynx’s playoff X-Factor is…

Nia Brodie (née Coffey) has made a considerable impact in the Lynx’s 33 wins this season. She shot the three ball at a 43.1 percent clip in wins versus 22.9 percent in losses. Her plus/minus was also +5.5 during Lynx wins and -3.9 in losses. Brodie’s shooting and defensive versatility are going to be integral especially when the Lynx are going to face much more size on their side of the bracket.

Seven of the Liberty's 15 points have come off Lynx turnovers and in transition. The Liberty have three steals to the Lynx's 0. Cheryl Reeve takes a timeout as NYL leads 15-6.

Chris DeMarco was chatty during today's postgame presser, voluntarily wanting to state how he feels about Breanna Stewart. It began when I asked Rebecca Allen about how her first season playing with Stewart has impacted her, and DeMarco made sure he could get in some extra thoughts.
Jackie Powell: Bec your whole career you haven't played with Stewie. You've been against her, or you've played against her. Can you just take us through what it has been like playing with her, especially in moments like these?

Rebecca Allen: I mean, I don't want to butter her up too much [laughs], but for me, honestly, playing with people like Stewie is a gift. I think she's a different kind of superstar as well as someone who the way that she speaks to her team is unlike no other. So for me, it's been, it honestly has been a gift to be able to play like alongside you.

But she makes the game so much easier. So I think the stars that not only create for themselves but for everyone else is selfless is rare. So for me, yeah, it's something that I really, I really enjoy.

Chris DeMarco: I'm gonna and-one that because I think if you ask any coach who's ever coached or played against her, she is the best player in the world. She's an absolute winner. It's just you can feel it when she's off the court. You feel when she's on the court. Not only here, obviously FIBA World Cup, everything else, and it's just like there's something about her and her character. And as a coach, like she's never not looking you in the eyes, she's never not looking her teammate in the eyes, she's never not leading, and she does everything that contributes to winning, and to be able to coach her has been incredible for me, especially first year head coach, and I just think it's overlooked sometimes. You know, people want to see launch threes, they want to see all this other stuff. But when it comes to impact and winning, like there's nobody better. It's not even close.

Jackie Powell @classicjpow.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
Sabrina Ionescu is clearly still battling something, presumably this lingering back injury. But today she found a way to still impact the game with a team high 9 assists which created 19 points.
