Seattle & King County — A rabies-positive bat was found near Washington Park Arboretum. Two unknown people gave the bat water before it was tested. They need to seek treatment for exposure to rabies.

Before he crossed the rainbow bridge, my other best buddy was the ultimate lap cat. I regularly spent hours every evening buried under both little dudes.

Took some time to reset with the family on an escape up north in neighboring and neighborly Canada this past week.

I am legitimately sad that the pirate parrot cracker box at my supermarket has been retired in favor of the newer bottom version.

A pair of cracker packaging boxes with differing designs. The older box features a treasure chest on the beach with crackers and an illustrated parrot with an eyepatch referring to them as “Crackarrrrrrrs” as if he were a pirate. The newer box features a picture of two crackers and has no cartoon characters or other recognizable theming.

Been gradually winding down my presence at the cesspool from which we escaped: locking the account, slowly unfollowing, methodically deleting old posts. Feels healthy and cathartic. Every broken connection and purged comment is one less link that the worst people can use to enrich themselves.

This past year I've challenged myself to get rid of one piece of clutter per day. Big or small, durable or consumable, renewable or landfill. It's been a healthy exercise, but harder than I would have guessed - it often feels like I'm throwing away the memories along with the item.
