George Colpitts just published Troubled Tributaries: Alberta Anglers, Fish Fights, and the Race to Save Mountain Coldwater Streams, 1900-1930, which has a lot to say about fisheries (trout) conservation in the Eastern Slopes. An interesting account of passionate disagreements and big personalities.

An excellent idea! Why should we subsidize foreign owned data centers for any length of time by allowing them to draw on our grid? AI billionaires paying before they play with their latest must-haves is the very least they can do.

Here’s my take for @ablawg.bsky.social on the AUC’s recent Olds Synapse decision. One of the things I comment on is an apparent change of tack on the part of the AUC in relation to a proponent’s obligation to complete its federal initial project description under the IAA. #abpoli #cdnpoli #ableg

Apparently Transport Minister Dreeshen (yeah, that guy) says "he wants to hear from Albertans if bike lanes are creating traffic congestion, hurting businesses or prolonging emergency response times." That's what he wants to hear, but I have other complaints to register on the new complaint line.

Premier Smith said her gov't "recognizes families are feeling the pinch." She seems to think the "pinch" feels the same for each of the 3.4M Albertans. The poverty line in Calgary/Edm is $31,906/yr for one person. We all know those with 9% of 225,000/yr will feel more than just a pinch. Stop ADAP!

The Alberta Energy Rebate available July 1 is $100 for the 3.4M adult Albertans w/ household incomes under $225,000/yr. Also on July 1, ~50,000 adult Albertans on Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped will be transferred to a program paying max $1740/mth or $20,880/yr, down from $23,280/yr.

Hi from United Conservative Caucus
Were you aware government is building 160+ schools, funding 476 complexity teams, adding 3,000 teachers & 1,500 EAs?
Yes/No

Response:
l am aware that the UCP is the most corrupt government this province has ever seen and in the next election if the choices are UCP and a dirty old shoelace someone found in the gutter, not only would I vote for the shoelace, I'd go out and doorknock to campaign for the Dirty Old Shoelace Party like my life depended on it.

The same UCP gov't wasted $70-80 million on a single source contract for unusable Turkish Tylenol, and about $240 million deciding to open the Eastern Slopes of the Rockies to coal mining and then deciding to close them. Whether it's due to incompetence or corruption, why are seniors paying for it?
