Maybe because a voter who wanted to vote for a known person with political experience and no known major baggage (Swawell) wants to still vote for a known person with political experience and no known major baggage (Becerra). Steyer doesn't meet the criteria for these voters, he has 0 political exp.

Data shows that African-American Democrats are the most socially moderate and religiously conservative demographic within the Democratic Party, particularly regarding cultural views on gender and sexuality.

True, any help I give could be misinterpreted. The only way to resolve that is be sexist and only help men or not help anyone for fear of being misinterpreted. So I take a risk a try to help anyone. I have no problem with Swalwell reaching out to and helping women. It's how it's done is the issue.

So, Democrats can outvote Republicans 70% to 30% in the open primary and lose the governorship.

California has an open primary where R's and D's compete. If 30% of voters vote for two R's at 15% each in the open primary, and 70% D's vote for 7 D's at 10% each, then the two R's win as the top vote getters in the primary, forcing D's to pick between 2 R's in the general.

The top two vote getters in the primary move on to the general regardless of which party they are from. The most recent Evitarus poll funded by the D party found that two R's are in the top two because all of the potential D votes are spread over many D candidates. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

DUE PROCESS is for court, not the ballot box. If Swalwell stays in, there's a greater chance that the R's take the top 2 positions in the open primary, guaranteeing an R victory in the general.

"If we imprisoned every creep" Who was talking about prison? This isn't a court case, this is about deciding who to vote for and being able to win an election. Being a creep isn't necessarily illegal, but that doesn't mean people will trust him or vote for him (he's not Teflon Don).

Silver lining? Better for the Swalwell story to come out now rather than later so that voters and other D candidates have time to adjust.

John Vepera @jvepera.bsky.social · 11/04/2026
Also it's not a crime, you're mixing what's legal vs. what people think is creepy and makes you unelectable. An election is not a court case.

John Vepera @jvepera.bsky.social · 11/04/2026
You also lose by trying to be morally superior and not recognizing the reality of what it takes to win an election. Swalwell stays in, it's more likely the top two R's reach the general election.

"CNN reviewed screenshots of dozens of messages Swalwell exchanged with the women, many of which are flirtatious in nature." That's enough to tell me he's a creep unless by some wild chance everyone interviewed is lying and CNN is seeing spoofed texts and/or is lying as well.

While the President sends more American troops to the Middle East, the price of everything - groceries, gas, mortgages - keeps rising. Let’s be clear: we are worse off today, and no safer, than before this unnecessary war began.

If the Supreme Court decides that the government can "erroneously" disappear you off the street to a foreign torture prison, and that federal courts have no power to do anything about it, that is, in a meaningful way, Pretty Much It www.supremecourt.gov/DocketPDF/24...
Respondents emphasize that Abrego Garcia was improperly removed to El Sal-
vador because, although he could be removed anywhere else in the world under a
2019 order of removal, that order granted statutory withholding of removal to El Sal-
vador alone. But, while the United States concedes that removal to El Salvador was
an administrative error, see App., infra, 60a, that does not license district courts to
seize control over foreign relations, treat the Executive Branch as a subordinate dip-
lomat, and demand that the United States let a member of a foreign terrorist organ-
ization into America tonight. For starters, because MS-13 members such as Abrego
Garcia have since been designated members of a foreign terrorist organization, they
are no longer eligible for withholding of removal under 8 U.S.C. 1231(b)(3)(B). Fur-
ther, the United States has ensured that aliens removed to CECOT in El Salvador
will not be tortured, and it would not have removed any alien to El Salvador for such
detention if doing so would violate its obligations under the Convention Against Tor-
ture. Moreover, respondents treat the relief here as “routine,” Resp. C.A. Stay
Opp. 1, but that relief goes far beyond merely facilitating an alien’s return, which is
what courts have ordered in other cases. This order—and its demand to accomplish
sensitive foreign negotiations post-haste, and effectuate Abrego Garcia’s return to-
night—is unprecedented and indefensible.
