Walk on by, folks; nothing to see here.
Screenshot of two paragraphs from the article. The text is:

The word “gunsel” didn’t start as a badge of honor for a quick-draw artist or a notorious outlaw. In fact, its beginnings are a little more humble—and a lot more surprising. The term traces back to the late 1800s, when America’s railroads were booming. Steel tracks and wandering souls crisscrossed the country’s landscape.

Among the hobos and railroad men, “gunsel” was actually a slang term for a young, inexperienced boy who traveled with an older, more seasoned tramp. The word itself likely comes from the Yiddish “ganser,” meaning “gosling” or young goose—a nod to someone who was still green, maybe a bit naïve, and just learning the ropes of life on the rails.

She was meant to be a foster dog but I knew immediately she would stay for good. In her face and her spirit, it was hard to tell where the terrier ended and the kelpie started. She was a doll.

Kill City have added keyboards since I last saw them and now sound more like the Visitors than any other band – but are still 💯 Stooges-rooted. They plan to record an album soon.

Il Bruto kicked out the covers: Is It My Body, Train Kept A-Rollin', Burned My Eye, Search and Destroy, 100 Fools, What It Is and more. They play like they really mean it. I reckon they could iron out any jukebox band around.

Tippi Hedren Collider combines spoken word, singing and heavy electronic noise. Unfortunately, the electronics malfunctioned. They got through a short set. I would see them again.

This afternoon in #Canberra. 1980s survivors Kill City sound like the #Stooges circa Fun House. Il Bruto play garage rock covers. I don’t know Tippi Hedren Collider but the name is promising.

First image in my camera roll that made me laugh out loud (Robert Hack cartoon)
In the cartoon, a man and a woman are moving a grandfather clock. The woman’s speech bubble contains the words “I still don’t understand how he’s your grandfather. Was he a man cursed to be a clock, or a clock cursed with human genitals?” The man’s speech bubble contains the word “What?”

He/she/it claims the lists are created by a script.

Whether the problem is contrived for effect or created by accident, the solution is reordering the list. In this case: ‘Ayesha Curry, mother, cookbook author, social media maven and wife of NBA superstar Stephen Curry’.

We’ve all seen funny examples of ambiguous lists, but as I’ve noted above, they’re typically contrived.

Incredible moment of Canberra noir: the Civic Theatre (opened 1936) by night. The movie titles on the marquee are ‘A Scandal in Paris’ and ‘Hot Cargo’ – both released in 1946, but likely to have reached Canberra a year or two later. Photo from the Canberra and District Historical Society. #canberra

It was a cold afternoon at the stadium and the Brumbies lost a close match. Our Vietnamese dinner was delicious, as usual, but I can’t recommend that Riscato. The label promised ‘moderate sweetness’ but the wine was intensely sweet.

I just finished this one, which I bought after you posted it. I think it was the first book we discussed. Really good story, and I think the novel would have worked even better with first person narration, à la Deighton or Lyall.
