If I could write myself 10 years ago I’d say: You’ll meet your goals, people who inspire you, people you inspire. Your work will positively impact others, you might get lucky enough to hear it. Yes, in its own timing but you work for it Especially when it’s handed to you

I finished reading Babel. It was recommended to me a lot and I see why. It’s an instant classic, dark academia, historical fantasy, and it has evocative undertones. While there was very little character development, the plot was worth it

I spent a little time being purely creative, in a non-business capacity. Creating music, writing, drawing. It’s amazing how much of myself was restored. It reminded me why I do what I do

I wrote some dungeon synth music and composed a vocal melody just for Melissa to sing. While she recorded it, I heard some majestic chittering outside. Look who came to sing along to our music!

Take pictures. Keep a diary. Create all the art you can even if you're not good at it. Consume all the art you can even if it's not good. Don't be afraid to say I love you when you mean it. Care for the vulnerable. Don't worry if you're smart. Prioritize doing good over being nice.

Sometimes when I'm feeling down, I'm reminded in my own mind how others need encouragement. Before leaving, I used to ask friends on Twitter to do this too. Share one kind thing about someone (not me) on here. (and who wouldn't mind being tagged) Because seeing kindness helps me feel better too. 💜

hey yall. there is an app called 5 Calls: Contact Your Congress where you plug in your (or any) US zip code, and it gives you local reps’ contact info. i know it’s been a lot of “call ur reps call ur reps” lately, but the OPM stuff is genuinely the scariest yet, and more than ever we should do so*

The start page of the 5 Calls app.

It reads

“5 Calls

Make your voice heard: Turn your passive participation into active resistance. Facebook likes and Twitter retweets can’t create the change you want to see. Calling your government on the phone can.

Spend 5 minutes, make 5 calls: Calling is the most effective way to influence your representative.

Together we’ve made 4,061,763 calls.”

The home page of the 5 Calls app.

Issues listed include “Oppose Kash Patel for FBI Director - Senate Hearing on 1/30,” “Oppose Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for Secretary of Health and Human Services - Senate Hearing on 1/29,” and “Oppose Trump’s Unfit Cabinet Nominees”

I just saw the 2025 US banned books list. I just want to say, go read books. Talk about them. Share them. And please write them. While many of these books will still be published, they do become less accessible when removed from libraries Be a book punk. Read them all

Shoveling snow has to be one of the best workouts, physically and psychologically. It’s everywhere and it’s closing in. It’s you and your shovel vs the elements. No one is coming to dig you out, except the snow plow service, who uses a truck. But it’s you and your shovel! And there’s wolves!
