But overall, I loved seeing this group a few years later and how the world is now changing. The cast were great and Batista 👌🏻 I want more of these so fingers crossed because my god the animation style was beautiful!

Watched Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender…. What a film! I’m sad Paramount never went down the route of a cinema release, total miss for them (surely look at the numbers the anime films do?)

Everyone’s suddenly watching Masters of The Universe since it’s come to Prime and my god the hate I’m seeing for it This is why we can’t have nice things anymore, everyone’s a damn critic

Loved The Bear season 1/2 but suddenly with 3 it lost its way onwards. Might have been because they wrote/shot 3/4 back to back and S5 wasn’t planned but the writing just didn’t quite capture the lighting in a bottle of those first 2

As for the finale, it felt like we could have ended at 7. It felt like forced closure and a weird end for Carmy (honestly I’d have him franchise The Beef and he himself setting/running the first one as a fitting end for his brother)

And that’s a wrap on The Bear season 5 I’ll be super honest, it felt like a chore to get through. A final season dedicated to a single dinner service felt, odd Every episode felt a retread of the last until the big climax in episode 7 and then the finale

2. Jackass: Best and Last - Loved this! It was fun, took me back to good ol Jackass! Great way to do it, some new stuff, some old, some BTS and some unseen. It was a perfect balance and a fitting end! 1. Masters of The Universe - Just great, fun, comedy, action. Loved it and want a sequel now!

Matt @justmattr.bsky.social · 30/06/2026
3. Supergirl - This was terrible, just meh. It had some fun moments but overall lacked a good story and characters. Lobo was fun but I think this should have been a Supergirl & Lobo adventure. Really utilised Jason Momoa as Lobo and establish Supergirl is different from Superman!

4. Disclosure Day - Yeah thought this was bad, boring and one of Spielbergs worst! Great cast void of everything that could make it good!

Also I fully get the signature image of the Supes with both Superman/Supergirl is in space/sky with the sun in front of them soaking up those rays but god damn this film did that same scene 3-4 times and it wasn’t needed

Matt @justmattr.bsky.social · 26/06/2026
I went in excited and didn’t believe any of the reviews because let’s face it, it could have been amazing but still would get slated because it’s a female led super hero film but now I see why it’s getting the negativity because it lacks so much life to it

Matt @justmattr.bsky.social · 26/06/2026
All of this means ditching the younger character because she served no purpose for the plot except getting in the way (she doesn’t even have any fight scenes and just unsheathed her sword to then sheath it in every scene.)

What I would have loved is a Supergirl & Lobo film, similar story of Krypto being poisoned and SG crosses paths with Lobo, eventually teaming up because he realises she’s a badass like him. Mix of the indie/pop/punk music with some heavier songs for Lobo and I think we could have had a great film!

Matt @justmattr.bsky.social · 26/06/2026
The music was great at some points but when it wasn’t you really felt it not hitting. Some of the CGI is bad and the locations just feel like a background with no depth to them. It just didn’t feel like something we needed off the back of Superman.
100
Matt @justmattr.bsky.social · 26/06/2026
What I didn’t enjoy: Lobo is barely in it and even when he is it feels random/forced and not thought through. The story and villain are just lacking, it’s like we’re coasting through with not much really going on except bouncing from one location to another

Saw Supergirl last night and really disappointed. Didn’t think it was a great film (but I wouldn’t say it was awful either), it really felt lacking in story, drive, focus and posted itself as a ‘James Gunn’ style which has me worried the new DCU will be all his style

Disclosure Day feels like it was a planned series but they went ‘scrap that let’s make a big movie of nothing’ By that I mean, everything feels squashed, scenes feel missing. It’s like it was imagined as some 8-10 episode HBO limited series

Love this 👌🏻

Matt @justmattr.bsky.social · 18/06/2026
There’s scenes in the film that are never explained and you’ll there’s about 2 action scenes (a third but it plays out more like a comedy) I’m not a Spielberg fan so I think those hyping the film are full lifetime supporters that can see no wrong but this is not worth the hype
010
Matt @justmattr.bsky.social · 18/06/2026
So Disclosure Day…..yup I think it was terrible. Story was just non-sensical, CGI was really bad and the acting from a great cast was just bland like they had no direction. I wouldn’t recommend sitting through 2 and a half hours of nonsense

I didn’t actually get a chance to see it on the end but I’m seeing it tomorrow so will see how it is. Sadly seen some spoiler stuff already 😬

6. Mandalorian and Grogu - This was just season 4. It served nothing to the characters or overall show plot. Felt massively disappointing. 7. The Sheep Detectives - Yeah murder mystery with sheep. Was fun for the whole family! 8. Passenger - Need I say more, I walked out. Just awful!
010
Matt @justmattr.bsky.social · 10/06/2026
4. The Devil Wears Prada 2 - I had no hopes for this because I love the original and thought a sequel wasn’t needed but I really enjoyed it. Plus Stanley Tucci! 5. The Backrooms - If the first half this film carried on throughout it would be higher but midway the story shifts and it take a dive

3. Hokum - I love this flux of Irish folklore stories. It was creepy horror whilst also having a bit of a murder mystery twist to it.

1. Obsession - Think this is one of the best horrors of 2026 already. It was creepy, dark, the cast were great and it felt so unique! 2. Mortal Kombat II - If it weren’t for Obsession this would be number 1! Loved it, fun, action, was better than the first (which I also enjoyed) Can’t wait for more

Reviews are bad and I don’t think Spielberg has had a good film in a long time (I’m also not a Spielberg fan and think he’s overrated, dunno what it is I just don’t see what everyone else sees and that’s totally fine)

And yes I do enjoy Die Another Day but that was the first I could see in the cinema and it’s something special seeing your first Bond on the big screen!

Matt @justmattr.bsky.social · 07/06/2026
Everyone’s got their favourite Bond but yeah mines got to be Pierce Brosnan because I’m a 90’s kid so those were my generation Watched Goldeneye last night but I think it might be my least favourite of his

Damn live action, animated, continuation and a more grown up series were all being planned but suddenly ended. I also don’t have any hope because nothing seems to have lift off anymore, look at Masters of The Universe struggling

Matt @justmattr.bsky.social · 07/06/2026
Anyway Power Ranger comics is all we have at the moment so gotta live with it (and hey might get good) but I hate this period we’re in with no more PR after so much was being built up at Netflix and then vanished overnight!

Start with MMPR, switch out the characters (they did do that in the last run at least), bring in Zeo, Turbo, Space, etc. I hate how comic runs just end and start anew constantly
000
Matt @justmattr.bsky.social · 07/06/2026
I mean first issue but it’s using the 30th anniversary themes as well as setting it 10 years after the original show so we’ve established MMPR were the only Rangers I just want a comic series that goes through the various shows making new stories and establishing a connection together

Matt @justmattr.bsky.social · 07/06/2026
We had such a good Power Rangers comic series from Boom Studios and then they decided to end that run, start up a new run and tell the story again (it was alright but just not as good as the previous) That ended and we now have a new run starting and yet again, it’s just MMPR and isn’t great

But if you haven’t then go see this film!

Matt @justmattr.bsky.social · 07/06/2026
But anyway, I loved Masters of The Universe, it was fun, action packed, nobody went too serious and it played into the 80’s perfectly. Sadly I’m seeing it being called a James Gunn/Guardians rip off and it’s come at a tough time when you’ve got Mandalorian and Supergirl

Matt @justmattr.bsky.social · 07/06/2026
Amazes me Transformers One didn’t do well when it was so good, same with Dungeons & Dragons and we’ll never get sequels. Power Rangers was fun for fans but wasn’t a great film and missed so many steps but hey it tried!
000
Matt @justmattr.bsky.social · 07/06/2026
Loved Master of The Universe just like I loved Transformers One, Dungeons & Dragons and Power Rangers (although the last one I can understand its failings) but sadly just like it’s predecessors, Masters of The Universe is probably going to flop because I’m positive people hate fun cinema!

That comment from Amazon made me think of how the guy who wrote the awful Dragon Ball Evolution film had never seen the anime, there should be some criteria that IF you get a chance to work on an existing IP you have some good knowledge of it

Matt @justmattr.bsky.social · 04/06/2026
As more news comes out, I’m finding it crazy that Amazon decided to axe the Stargate reboot because it’s ’catered to fans’ so they want to think of getting a fresh show runner who doesn’t know the show Please make it make sense?? #Stargate #SaveStargate

Matt @justmattr.bsky.social · 04/06/2026
Me and my partner just finished a full rewatch which took us from summer towards the end of last year and the funny thing is the week after we finished they announced the new series. Hoping they do something but without the people behind it, it won’t be as good
010
Matt @justmattr.bsky.social · 03/06/2026
For Amazon to also turn around and say it wouldn’t appeal to a broader audience so they’re seeking a showrunner who doesn’t know the franchise, is this seriously what these higher ups think would work?? That’s been proven time and time again to NOT WORK!
000
Matt @justmattr.bsky.social · 03/06/2026
Actually devastated by the news that Amazon won’t be going ahead with the Stargate series. Like damn it had all the OG creators and writers on it!

I think the whole film should have been found footage because those bits were frightening but as soon as you pull out of that and into cinema mode it doesn’t feel the same
000
Matt @justmattr.bsky.social · 29/05/2026
But then half way through things get switched up and it just goes downhill FAST! I just didn’t enjoy the second half, it lost its momentum, suspense and horror and I just wanted it to finish already. It’s a shame because I was hyped for this film but the best segments are the found footage style
