Felt like a pretty fair price on a seemingly-new #Dreamcast VMU.

Used my recent Treasure Factory rally earnings (from going to 7x different branches) and got Pokémon Pinball CIB for ¥1500 off.

Surprised to find a 1981 Game & Watch FIRE in a Hard-Off junk bin thrown in amongst random controllers and things. I don’t know too much about G&W, but I think this was the version released in Western markets. No manual or battery cover (but it powers on).

New issue is Nintendo Dream comes with a 162-page full-color encyclopedia of Nintendo game history. I feel this is one of the better magazine supplements lately.

Rescued this QuickShot arcade stick from the BookOff junk corner for a few hundred yen. First time seeing one. Turns out was never released in Japan, so must have been imported long ago by someone trying to get an upper hand in Street Fighter II. I'm shocked how many features it has given its age.

Whoa, I knew it was a good deal insta-buy when I saw it, but didn’t realize this Super Famicom cart case goes for such stupid amounts online.

Got a clean jewel case #FF3 OSV (with obi) from the junk section. This is the 1994 re-release.

Found an account that's auctioning off a SHITLOAD of game flyers, including some for the Japan-only Super Mario Word arcade games. If you've never played these you're a fake gamer. (Names and Mario Wiki pages in alt text.) auctions.yahoo.co.jp/seller/2XUwy...
Flyer for "Super Mario Attack" (1996) by Banpresto, a Super Mario World-themed arcade game, featuring artwork on Caped Mario on the cabinet and the screen. The flyer has screenshots of gameplay in Super Mario World-style graphics but with unique gameplay, and a win screen showing Princess Peach, Mario, and Yoshi celebrating. Finally found some #ff6 keychains out in the wild. Most were unopened and even had the original booklet! All were from Set 1. Sadly no Edgar, but there were 6x Sabins/Mashes to make up for it.. I bought everything (12 total).

I don’t usually buy old movie pamphlets, but when I do it’s because I’m a sucker for awesome retro art with katakana text

Starting today, we're piloting Japanese magazines in our digital archive! We've spent the last few months upgrading our library infrastructure to support Japanese-language material, starting with the magazine Neo Geo Freak. Read the full blog post for more info: gamehistory.org/5k-magazines/
A two-page spread from Neo Geo Freak featuring Nakoruru from the game Samurai Shodown. All text is accurately highlighted on the page, including vertical writing being mapped vertically.

Can't get the Family Basic Data Recorder out of my mind after I saw it super clean in the wild behind the counter at a local recycle shop the other day (was was told it wasn't for sale). They don't sell online, so makes me think this place just saves all the good stuff for their fav local buyers...

This polygonal game called FC-Pico running on stock Famicom hardware is incredibly impressive and would have definitely blown my mind as a kid. #GameLegend #ゲームレジェンド

I found the one guy in Japan who loves Atari Jaguar (a system that was never released here) and Tempest. I played for a bit, it was fun.

The Cassette Famous Scene games specifically advertised reusing the included cassette case to store Famicom games (you can see this illustrated on the back of the blister pack), and you're correct that they included stickers as well.

Still have a few more months to get some use of Suntory-ade's 1987 Nintendo Famicom Calendar. Next time won't be until 2037!

Fanta Japan had a Nintendo64 promotion in 1996. You could win an N64 or games by collecting stickers.

Really cool unexpected junk bin find. Club Nintendo Hits - a 1995 CD from the Netherlands featuring Shaggy’s Boombastic and absolutely no video game music. Has an Ultra 64 ad in the booklet!

Found this Super Mario Bros. Cassette Meibamen among junk Famicom carts. Thought there was going to be cardboard game pieces inside but was a cart with a label I haven’t seen before. Didn’t test yet, but wondering if anyone has info about what this could be? Is it just a sticker somebody slapped on?
