I’ve seen the following ‘reassurance’ on our fuel prices over on Zuckerbook just now. “Don’t be such a doom merchant. Petrol and Diesel have stabilised.” Don’t know you about you but this time last year for me, diesel was around €1.75 per litre. It’s now “stabilised” locally here at €2.19!

In 2021, return of kids to special needs schools first was bargaining chip. That I will not forget, and likely not forgive. Now we have ALL schools on WTR and scheduled closures. Summer was tough as. Now we’ve to navigate autumn as well. Those schools and classes should not have in the disruption.

Yep, the respective contributions, responsibilities and decision-making rights need to be clear. Otherwise, the Union sees obligations it needs to enforce, owners see overreach, and supporters see another fight. With trust already so low, the new licences have to define that relationship properly.

My question is whether the same clarity will apply to the new licences: what the WRU will fund, what owners are expected to contribute, and how those commitments and obligations will be assessed consistently. That’s where I think clear information matters now. There is next to no trust currently.

My point is that it’s still difficult to see, on a comparable basis, what each party contributes and what obligations attach to that funding. The new agreements are an opportunity to make that much clearer. Not arguing with you, by the way.

Meant opaque from the outside. Not that there were no agreements. If those agreements were detailed but gave the WRU too much control, that makes it even more important that the next agreements clearly set out the funding, owners’ contributions, responsibilities and decision-making.

That’s where the problems arose, making setup unsustainable. What are owners expected to contribute, and what is WRU funding for? There have been too many opaque answers to those questions. I imagine the MoUs and regional licence agreements will look very different from those that came before.

The butt of the issue here is that the regions are a mishmash. You can’t have a solid governance structure if there are two union-owned teams and two private-owned. Even after a reduction to three, there would be one not the same as the other two. Every remnant of the Moffett mess needs to be gone.

The money side of things needs clarity if they want buy-in. Was discussing with another this morning the £30m made up of £10m to community and £20m to pro game. What is the breakdown of that £20m? Also, have they budgeted for a penalty from URC for dropping a team? If so, how much is that?

Just finished. My main take, given what I’ve been looking into, myself. Keystone was commissioned after the 3-team decision, but from what I gather, its stated task was to assess location, not whether Wales should have 3 x teams.
