News has broken that Kansas City is pushing for facial recognition technology on buses. I got out to show people my hometown of Blue Springs—this is what a surveillance state looks like—hundreds of Flock cameras. This expansion of surveillance is tied to the AI industry's demand for data centers. 🚫

The vacant building along the I-70 corridor is hard to ignore—especially when half of the buildings are empty or have “for sale” signs. The Sears signage is gone, places like Hooters boarded up, and restaurants that once held memories—closed. 📉

One of the policies I was proud to champion was a resolution designating single stall restrooms as “all-gender” across city facilities. BUT what often goes unnoticed is that this policy also mandated that every one of these facilities has access to feminine hygiene products—free to the user. ♥️

I went downtown to see something for myself. Last year, the Black Pan-African flag flew at the KC City Hall and the Downtown County Courthouse. Today, it does not at the direction of one man. The only thing that has changed is our interim county executive—It’s Phil Levota.
