Most of those countries are already members - unlike the UK! The Iceland and Canada examples are just nonsense. New applicants must meet the eligibility criteria to join the EU. No exceptions for random 3rd countries. Pretty simple really.

Applicants don't get to write the rules for new membership, meet the eligibility criteria, or don't apply. I'm certainly not impressed with the British armed forces, and I don't find them in any way useful. Maybe stick to the commonwealth and AUKUS. No special deals for new members.

I find the UK electorate to be extremely gullible when it comes to matters of the EU. Why would any EU member state vote to allow a 3rd country to join with a better deal than the member has? Barnier is having a right laugh, imho.
