Recently did a 24-page admissions brochure for Alabama School of Mathematics and Science, and threw in a set of shiny new icons to use for socmed/internal docs/whatever. I'm waiting for someone to get the nerdy lil easter egg on this one.

Doing some PC cleanout and ran across photo evidence of the time I decided a regular pie lattice was boring so I hunted thru cookie cutters to find shapes that would "tile the plane" and ended up with yoda heads and squirrels.

A just-baked cranberry-apple pie on a stove. Instead of a regular slotted crust covering or a normal lattice, here we see the infinite creative possibilities of using one's cookie cutters instead. Thus, the top crust of the pie is comprised of a ring of squirrels (not sure what the heraldic position would be called here -- perhaps "sejant erect"?) and a central medallion of five Yoda heads.

Man, I don't even know. It seemed reasonable at the time.

If you, like me, are lazy and still have your tree up, then you, like me, can kill most of a day making accordion paper ball ornaments which are DEAD easy. Hit them with a little matte spray clearcoat for extra stiffness/durability, embellish with whatever bits of seasonal tat you have around.

Chewy molasses oatmeal cookies with a lil hint of toasty sesame. On the left with dark chocolate chips, shredded unsweetened coconut, and poppyseeds; right with chopped walnuts and dried cranberries. Trust me and do a pinch of flaky salt on the coconut-choc-poppyseed ones before baking.

I LOVE THIS SO FREAKING MUCH. It is HEFTY, it's about 4.5" long, it has more clearance from the spool to the floor (my 25yd double-stick tape refills just barely fit; they DON'T fit in my steel Penco dispenser), full rubber pad on base for stability, and LOOK AT HER.
