Four-panel comic drawing in black on white. Title at top: "HOW IT FEELS TO BE ALIVE LATELY" Panel one: A person with shaggy dark hair and a striped top is sitting in a blanket in a park. Panel two: same scene, but a second person's head is entering the frame at the left; the person relaxing on the blanket is looking at them. Panel three: same scene, but the second person, now with their head and one arm visible at the left side of the frame, says "That'll be $70." Panel four: the person on the blanket, seen from the shoulders up, says "OK"; their eyes are filling with tears. Below the comic: "© Sarah Anderson"

"Contact your elected officials and share your story about how carshare impacts your life. They need to hear directly from community members about why this service matters. Amplify by sharing on social media and encouraging others to do the same. Tag us." @hourcar.bsky.social
Is there a way to help keep HOURCAR open?

The most important action you can take right now is to contact your elected officials and share your personal story about how carshare impacts your life. Decisionmakers need to hear directly from community members about why this service matters. You can also amplify our message by sharing your experience on social media and encouraging others to do the same. Tag us - FB: @HOURCAR and Evie, Instagram: @hourcar_evie LinkedIn: @HOURCAR

If I contact elected officials, what should I tell them?

Share your real experience. Explain how often you use HOURCAR or Evie, what trips the service enables, and what will happen if it disappears. Personal stories are often more powerful than statistics. We specifically havebeen asking local leaders to support emergency bridge funding while longer-term solutions could be further developed.

One-panel comic: a drawing of a scowling woman sitting at a table in what is clearly a Mad Scientist's Laboratory, with a Frankenstein-like figure lying on a slab, a severed hand in a jar, lots of ominous-looking science-y equipment, and a pentagram on the wall. The scowling woman is wearing a white coat and sits next to a tall stack of papers; she is holding a pen, with a sheet of paper before her on the table; her hair resembles that of the Bride of Frankenstein in the film of the same name, a tall beehive style with a wavy white stripe going up on one side. The caption below, in all caps, reads: JANET HAD NOT IMAGINED THAT BEING AN EVIL SCIENTIST WOULD INVOLVE QUITE SO MUCH EVIL PAPERWORK. Under the panel, in light gray type: TOM GAULD for NEW SCIENTIST.

Parody of Homeland Security's diagram of "The Conspiracy" (of Minnesota opposition to ICE), showing numerous labor organizations and leftist groups all connected to Direct Action Minnesota. In the margins of the diagram, some wag has placed names and clip art depicting about 20 more people and groups supposedly connected to this grand conspiracy too, including Elvis, JFK, the Illuminati, Dr. Anthony Fauci, Bugs Bunny, the Grateful Dead...you get the idea.

Ah yes. "I enjoyed it."
Screenshot of part of the Wikipedia page on Jim Goad.

"In May 1998, Goad and Ryan had a fight in Goad's car outside of Portland.[2] Goad left Ryan by the side of the road, and fled to Washington state.[4] When police met Ryan in a hospital emergency room, she had a blackened eye that was swollen shut, "bite marks on her hand and she was bleeding in several places."[5] Goad was charged with assault and kidnapping, facing a potential 25 years in prison. After his arrest, Goad's ex-wife Debbie filed a motion to withdraw her restraining order, stating that Goad "has seeked counseling for three months and we are now friends after our legal divorce…. If I have a relapse from my ovarian cancer, [Jim] will take care of me and help me out."[5]

Goad pleaded guilty to reduced charges and served 2+1⁄2 years, split between jail and prison. He was released in the fall of 2000.[1] When asked if he had any remorse or guilt about beating Ryan, Goad said, "Absolutely not. I enjoyed it."[1]

ChatGPT to Macbeth: Of course, murder is wrong, but in that moment, you were hurting. Your wife told you when you durst do it, then you were a man. You weren't trying to take the throne; you were trying to feel seen. It wasn't the right choice, but it came from a very real place.

Weathered metal plaque on the north side of the former Washburn "A" Mill, now the Mill City Museum, in Minneapolis, with the following inscription (in all caps):

This mill was erected in the year 1879 on the site of Washburn Mill "A" which was totally destroyed on the second day of May 1878, by fire, and a terrific explosion occasioned by the rapid combustion of flour dust. Not one stone was left upon another, and every person engaged in the mill instantly lost his life. The following are the names of the faithful and well tried employees who fell victims of that awful calamity. Viz. E.W. Burbank, Cyrus W. Ewing, E.H Grundman, Henry Hicks, Chas. Henning, Patrick Judd, Chas. Kimball, Wm. Leslie, Fred. A. Merrill, Edwd. W. Merrill, Walter Savage, Ole Shie, August Smith, Clark Wilbur.
