Someone laughed at my mention of ethics, but marketing has legal frameworks etc. Marketing didn't begin with Digital Marketing. If I was commissioning a marketing agency I wouldn't want the big decisions to be made by someone whose only qualification is being self-taught in using Canva.

I agree insofar as most careers shouldn't require a degree for an entry-level job. But to get into a senior or operational management level in most careers someone should be able to demonstrate training, experience or learning to a degree equivalent level.

I don't work in digital marketing, but surely at degree level it's more about the 'why' than the 'how'. Principles, theories, ethics, not a detailed how-to that could just be provided in a short instruction manual.
