I went to an exhibition of her work in Nottingham a few years ago. It was really moving and blew me away.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents murdered 37-year-old U.S. citizen Alex Pretti today in Minneapolis. This is the third U.S. citizen ICE has killed this year.

ICE and Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) are loyal agents of Nazis and white supremacists within the Republican Party. They are behaving as enemies both of the Constitution and of the American people and they must be treated as such.

The United States is at a crossroads: Either the American people are able to wrest power from the current fascist leaders or those leaders will continue to radicalize, using violence and terror to dismantle democracy and commit even greater mass atrocities.

History is clear about this.

The American people are currently fighting alone in their battle for freedom and liberty. The Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention admires their courage and expresses solidarity.

We urge the U.S.’s powerful institutions, including the National Guard and the military, to uphold their Constitutional oath and come to the aid of the people immediately

I went to an exhibition by the sculptor Kate MccGwire at Lakeside Arts in Nottingham. She uses ethically sourced feathers to make the most amazing artwork. This is using pheasant feathers. My photo doesn't do it justice.

Fond memories of all these beaches, particularly Runswick Bay, which is a gem. Spurn is wild and not really a pleasure beach. I have a lovely art photograph of the groynes at Spurn. It hangs above my desk and reminds me of growing up in Hull.

Thank you. There are so many wonderful churches in Sicily, but my favourite has to be Cefalú Cathedral. The mosaic of Christ Pantokrator is stunning and shows a Middle Eastern Jesus as I think he would have looked.

My hellebores are in full flower on #ChristmasDay. This has never happened before in any of my previous gardens in the East Midlands in over 40 years of gardening.

It's his gotcha anniversary today. He was rescued by a charity as a snarling street cat. It took 6 months to tame him. When I got him, he had diarrhoea & was obese as they'd overfed him on cheap food. He's since had an ingrowing claw, IBS and diabetes. But he's a joy and a complete snugglepuss.
