The princess in her tower, wondering why I brought a camera into her new boudoir... which happens to be in the main entryway.
My fluffy cat, a.k.a. The Tiny Child, has found a way to climb onto the main shelf of the antique cabinet where I keep my hat and sunscreen. She is wondering why I have brought a camera into this. She is reflected in the mirror behind her.

Hair done! This is not just "dye head blue." It's in layers of ombre blue and lavender so whatever style I put it in, the color effect is different. I love it so much!
About to take the train back from the hairdresser. I'm wearing a light yellow hoodie and gold-rimmed round sunglasses. My hair is BLUE!

A shiny black two-level cup and teapot set on a white lozenge shaped tray with a little cup full of milk that reads "flavour" and a TimTam dusted with something I think might be malt powder. It's reflected in the mirror.

She likes this best when my hand is perfectly still.
My fluffy white cat is napping on a thick light blue blanket. We see a close-up of her from the side up. She is facing left with her left ear toward the viewer. Her eyes are closed and her paw is tucked up and curled under beside her pink nose. I am resting my very pink-looking hand gently between her shoulder blades. You can just barely see the orange, freckle-like spots on her face.

How it started/how it's going... ...hand-twisted cat fur yarn edition! (more in alt text)
Closeup of my cat's fur: white fur on her back fills the frame. You can see part of an orange spot on the right, and in the center is a spot which combines orange tabby and brown tabby. There's also an orange mini-spot next to the big one.Two-ply cat fur yarn against a white background. The yarn is a soft grayish-brown color because it mixes white, orange, and brown fur. At the top I have 3 meters of two-ply yarn wound into a ring. The end of the yarn splits in two and ends in fuzzy un-spun cat fur!

My cat hair yarn-spinning project has reached 3 meters!
My cat bemusedly considers the brush full of her white-and -orange fur that I am holding.Two-ply cat yarn and the brush it came from, back when I had one yard of it and not 3 meters!

Sulvain and Raziol from @kaijubean.bsky.social 's magnificent webcomic, Novae! novaecomic.com
Sulvain, a slim, pale man in his early 20s with short, curly brown hair, flowing purple trousers and a pink poet shirt, is lifting Raziol in his arms. Raziol, also a man in his early 20s, has leapt enthusiastically into his arms and is looking down into Sulvain's face in delight. Raziol has short, dark hair and brown skin, and is wearing a black, sleeveless muscle shirt, blue jeans, and white roller skates with bright red wheels. There is a huge disco ball behind them with reflections in pink, purple, gold, and white.

I have formed the hypothesis that my cat's fur is so SOFT because her undercoat is most of her fur; she has many fewer guard hairs than some other cats I've met. SHE IS SO SOFT. Thank you for this, universe.
Cat on my lap, facing away from me so you can see her back with its white fur and orange and brown spots. We are on the deck.My cat lying on a Persian carpet looking caught-in-the-middle-of-play. It's a closeup on her face and wide eyes, big pupils with gold irises. Her fur is white with orange spots, and her ears are pink inside. Her nose is also pink. Her forepaws are crossed, pointing toward the right of frame. You can see her long fuzzy undercoat hairs sticking up over her shoulder.

The shelf project is DONE!!! It took months to get to it all, especially with how long the cut-to-size custom laminate shelves took to arrive. The one advantage of having done it in gradual stages is that I was able to adjust my sense of what the optimal setup would be.
Monster pantry cabinet with completed pull-out shelves! There are now three pull-out shelves full of food under the fixed shelf on the left side, and two on the right with dishes and baking pans. The "small" part of my pantry project. This small cabinet was virtually unusable because you couldn't see anything you put in it, but now it has two pull-out shelves. The top one has tea supplies and the bottom one holds our alcohol supply. The heavy-duty locking drawer slides have no trouble with all the heavy bottles.

I tried something new! It turns out my cat's undercoat is SPINNABLE. I have never made yarn before and I feel ridiculously proud of myself about it.😁
On a light brown cloth background sits a length of two-ply yarn that I made myself, and a purple cat brush holding a tiny puff of the fur I made it with.

A large Victorian fireplace framed in wood with a complex cabinet above. There is a rectangular mirror set under the mantel and a larger mirror above it, flaned by fine spindle-turned supports. There are beautiful floral tiles around the fire box, and an iron grille like a short fence across the bottom.A gorgeous Victorian hallway, white molded plaster with dark wood doors. The hall itself has keyhole-molded arches.A white wooden door with inset stained and painted glass. Two square panels above and twelve below. A small black dog, chihuahua-minpin mix, is snuggled up wearing a fluffy blue bathrobe and sitting on a gray wool sweater. You can see his head in the center of frame, and his pale muzzle is facing left. His bat-like left ear is pointing straight up. A peek of his shoulder is also showing.

I swear, she is a work of art! I'm trying not to go over there and stick my face in her fur, since that would make her leave...
A blue velvet chair with a glass table covered with puzzle pieces in the foreground. The chair has the tanned, browny-orange-furred skin of a culled kangaroo draped over it. Below the fur, my cat is lying on her side facing toward the viewer. Her ears point to the left of the frame and her tail is barely visible on the right side of the chair. She is all white fluff in this position. Her eyes are mostly shut and you can just see the orange freckles on her face. Her front paws are held out, slightly curved, in front of her.

This is my small dog, who is smaller than either of our cats. He is definitely trying to tell me something, and I guarantee you it's not "time to make your bed, Mom"...
A small chihuahua-miniature pinscher mix sits on a rumpled bed. He has the black saddle-patterned coat with white chest and muzzle and eyebrow spots. He also has white "gloves" on his front paws. He has huge, Yoda-like ears and his right ear has a chunk taken out of it. He lost it when he succeeded in cornering a cat years ago... probably wishes he had failed!

A white fluffy cat with orange-tabby freckles on her face and head and a black-and-orange tail is standing primly on her button board, forefeet placed right next to the button that says "all done." She is not pressing anything but clearly trying to send me a message!

My cat's color palette on this chair is amazing.
Pelli is sleeping on a deep blue velvet chair. She is white and fluffy, facing away from the viewer with her ears pointing toward the left and just the back of her head and curve of her back visible. I'm trying to write because that's what I can do for the world, even though it doesn't feel like much or like enough. I'm doing my best to speak truth. Here's a picture of my cat in case you need a moment of softness. (more in alt text)
My cat is sitting on my lap - a special occurrence. The background is the gray stone tiles of my deck, with a glimpse of a tall black planter box in the upper left and a rocking foldable deck chair at the top. Sunlight is reflecting from the tiles at the top of the image. At the bottom you can see blue flowers with white centers on my shirt. I have a gray fleece blanket on my lap and my cat is curled there looking out at the world. She is white and fluffy with spots. You can just see the start of her tail, which is orange- and brown-tabby. The top of her colorful tail gives into a few small orange spots like freckles. She has a large orange-tabby spot on the lower section of her back and a large orange-tabby spot overlaid by a large brown-tabby spot on the upper section of her back near her shoulder blades. Between the two large spots is one small orange one, and there are three more small orange spots just below her neck. Her left ear is orange-tabby and there is one tiny orange spot near the base of her right ear. She was feeling contemplative and didn't look at me when I called her name.

Drop an alien not from Star Wars or Star Trek
The cover of Analog Science Fiction and Fact from October 2012, featuring a cute lemur-like alien with orange eyes that have tiny pupils. Her name is Op. She is wearing green wrap-around sunglasses and a lavender-and-orange uniform. She has a pair of coins in the delicate furry fingers of one hand, and her tail is striped in rings. A large human wearing a green coat has his hand gently resting around one of her ears. They are standing on a deck in front of a huge waterfall with a few alien-looking trees growing on a crag that emerges from the water. This art was painted by Michael Whelan for a story I wrote called The Liars.

The Cranbourne Royal Botanical Gardens are *amazing*. They are not far from Melbourne. They have been so carefully designed! You never know when you will come across an entirely different view.
Near the entrance. A view of the red sand garden, with red sand visible across the center, with round pads of silver-green bushes here and there in the red.
