Endless thanks to Vassar Review for this startling and exquisite collection exploring "Frame & Forgery"—and for including my poem "The House on Colbert Street" alongside so many fantastic works of writing and art! I'm hypnotized by this ethereal cover! vassar-review.vassarspaces.net/wp-content/u...
Cover art for the 2025 issue of "The Vassar Review" with the theme of "Frame and Forgery." Art is "The Skinnydippers" by Anninka Tucksmith: oil on panel showing women (painted blood-red) skinny-dipping in a small body of water, painted in dark greens with a green and gold horizon.

the sound of salesman laughing
ellipses in emails
                                                      unexpected
                            crunching under
foot the complaints of
computers

                          unplugged too
                          soon

Snow in New Orleans snow in New Orleans snow in New Orleans snow in New Orleans snow ❄️❄️❄️
Snow clings to the strands of a spider web stretched between a dark brick wall and a snow-covered purple plant.

Merry Happy here we go
A goofy plastic Christmas tree with blue ornaments, blue and silver tinsel, a single snowflake ornament we stole years ago from a fully decorated tree in someone's NYE trash, and a Groot tree topper because we still can't find something we like better. Two "This is fine" fire dog stuffed animals and a plastic Christmas train on a brown plastic track stand in for a tree skirt.

Not pictured: me standing on the bench of the electric keyboard I got five years ago when I thought I'd teach myself, you know, music, before leaping into poetry instead. Also not pictured: the poetic works I stepped away from to stand on a bench and take this photo. Pictured: brief moment of joy. 🦎
The underside of a gecko is visible through frosted glass, illuminated by an unseen city street, shadowed by the shape of the spectator's phone. Its head is raised, tail is curled, and toepads spread wide—waiting.

The New Orleans writing scene is ablaze with killer work, and reading alongside these exceptional talents made me giddy. I cannot wait to hear and read more of their poems, books, and stories. Absolute blast of an evening!

Getting that MFA reading done with Alice Notley's "The Descent of Alette" (and a too-long-to-justify/definitely-not-efficient/barely-successful tangent with the clone stamp tool to highlight the exact part of the text I've liked most so far).
"Then I felt him" "begin to"
"encase me" "He sank down" "into my head" "into my thoughts,"
"which instantly" "separated" "assumed a terrifying" "strict

order" "unfamiliar" "to me" "Each felt distinct" "from each,"
"arranged" "in a progression" "My head" contained an
army" "of separate" "same-shape thoughts" "Soldiers"
"soldiers marching" "Never touching each" "other" "It wasn't"

"wasn't" "like a mind" "No thoughts felt true" "Thoughts felt
"efficient"
