The government and Heidi Alexander claimed over 14.5m children used a free bus scheme this August. That’s not correct. In fact, over 14.5m *journeys* were made (by far fewer children). There are only about 7.5m children of the right age in England.

when I was a student in Bristol, house shared with a chemistry student who got a job at Porton Down. His ancient car gave up one night and he abandoned it to walk to digs. Within minutes, police on our doorstep demanding to see him.

did spot something horribly outdated in an excerpt from 1977 when interviewer asked Symon about being "illegitimate"!! That term went out in 1969. Symon went on to foster > 100 children - an absolute hero. (it's 70 Up, not Seventy - my mistake)

I saw Jason Arday's book in a local library today. It was in a 'new books' shelf, not on display. I read the last few pages and realised I lacked courage to read the book. Seemed mainly an homage to his mother. Anyway, my point is, you can probably find it in your library if you are braver than I am

new legal blogging report on a case that took more than 3 years to try (and fail) to restore meaningful contact with a parent where there were no safeguarding risks. The lengthy proceedings were described as tragic and damaging.
