I wonder if someday people will acknowledge that we advocated for kids, the elderly, disabled folks & our families and that the evidence has been available for quite a while. Covid is worth the mild inconvenience of wearing a mask and making intentional, empathic choices. Thanks for your leadership

I toured a TDSB high school yesterday. The teachers & students were amazing & the program looked strong. The facilities were run down. The stairs had grooves, parts of ceiling loose, lockers & equipment ancient. It made me wonder how many people who voted for Ford have seen the state of schools.

I know there won’t be a city wide parade to thank the Blue Jays but it would be so cool if schools celebrated the teamwork, persistence, risk taking, empathy (& really all the learning skills students practice) with parades! You don’t win every time but there’s so much to celebrate. #bluejays

Everyone should call regardless of if they rent or not. I can’t imagine the scope of the impact if rent becomes less affordable in this province. And Doug Ford is VERY influenced by public outcry. It’s worth our time.

The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice. Except it doesn’t bend on its own—it bends because we pull it in the direction of justice. What keeps me hopeful during times like these is being surrounded by people who are doing just that.

This is such a wonderful tribute to #RobertMunsch. On rainy days in kindergarten we’d always pull out a Munsch book or one from the Franklin series, because we’re Canadian & even on wild days, kids would be spellbound. www.nytimes.com/2025/09/14/m...

In 1900, 31% of all deaths were children under the age of 5. Today it’s 0.7%. Vaccines, medications, and modern science are the reason why. Trust the science, it’s been proven to work safely and efficiently time and time again.

We passed some kids doing something dangerous & they seemed embarrassed. 1 of them called me “retard”. I said “When you have the privilege of making friends with someone with Down’s Syndrome you’ll never say that again” It probably didn’t change a thing but I couldn’t ignore hate from a kid. 💔

There’s something about stories that opens people up a little and sparks empathy. This story is so well told by @laurie.frankel. I bet it’s helped many to see that trans kids are just kids & their parents are just parents figuring out the best way to love and support them. 💕🏳️‍⚧️

Agree with you. We have a long way to go with the long term effects of COVID. I was making a comment about how parents don’t need to be teaching kids to read to be ready for school. Just helping kids to say out loud when they need help makes being in a large group more positive.

There’s so much fear mongering about kids not being ready. Kindergarten teachers will meet students where they are & help them to engage in learning. Having taught kindergarten for 20 years, my advice is: help your child know when they need help & practice asking for help in different scenarios. 💕

I called Doug Ford & said given predictably high temps in June & September we need a policy re: school closures on dangerously hot days or an investment in air quality including AC. Also TDSB and Min. of Ed should turn off AC in their offices out of respect for staff & students! 416-325-1941

The part that made me most angry about the email from TDSB was that the stated reason for not closing schools is that it would be inconvenient for parents. We all need to call Doug Ford tomorrow about dangerously hot schools are!

Anyone can become disabled at any time. It’s one of the few minority groups you can always join. Even if you do everything “right”. Even if you’re young and healthy. Even if you “try hard” It’s not a moral failing. It’s a part of life. Engage in disability justice.

Ableism works when you pretend you’ll never be disabled. Everyone is an injury away from a change in their abilities. That or the natural aging process. Empathy & compassion scare some because they’d rather pretend that disabled people are others that they’ll never be.

I keep seeing posts referring to Joe Rogan bringing back the “R word”. This has to be an absolute NO! We need to speak up every time we hear it. Not just for our friends with #DownSyndrome but to show all kids that sometimes inclusion means having awkward moments with people who don’t know better.

I think about kids who learn about growth mindset & how to apply it…that mistakes are important in the learning process. That you problem solve, listen, reflect & make a plan for next time based on this process. It becomes harder to find news stories of adults taking ownership & showing empathy.
