It's not the same as sam sync, which skips CloudFormation for code only pushes. Express speeds up the actual deploy: new resources + config changes. For production where "done" must mean "ready for traffic", stick with standard.

It returns as soon as resource config is applied instead of waiting for every resource to fully stabilize. Same deploy, you just don't block on it. Dependencies are still respected, transient failures still retry. Great for dev/test iteration.

Second talk I’ve seen today about how to get better results with prompts with /plan mode. Vibing your plan thinking is great but then I really suggest you formalise your specs and then build from that + steering + MCP. That’s what we do with Kiro and my results have been so much better.
