The GOP intentionally, ambiguously, conflates preferred names/pronouns with gender reassignment surgery, because then they don't have to do the work to respect their kids choices/agency at home, even if some trusted adults at school - gasp!- actually treat their kids with kindness and dignity.

...and, honestly, I think that having their kids treated with respect and dignity by other adults in their lives, when they can't bring themselves to do so, chafes them the most. It's not (just) accusations about top or bottom surgeries performed in schools, it's that kids are thinking critically.

I think that many GOP parents had children that asked them to call them by their chosen name and gender identity, and their heads exploded because they can't differentiate between sex, gender, and sexual orientation. And, perhaps, because the kids' teachers honor their kids' agency, they're furious.

Farmers aren't monolith. There are many, often small specialty crop farmers, that don't vote against their interests. Some IA farmers I know are the most progressive, amazing activists I know.

Support local sourcing by institutions (schools, senior centers, hospitals, etc), subsidize specialty crop small farmers so they can thrive and still supply affordable food, provide all farmers health and crop insurance, pass COOL, expand SNAP and Double Up Food Bucks programs...there is much to do.
