When using AI coding agents, for effective results, I'm finding there is always going to be a decison to be made: "when do I change gears from "black box prompting" (nontechnical, directional, outcome-based) to "white box prompting" (technical, tactical, focused)". Familiar?

In my experience, human effectiveness is dependent on accumulation of knowledge from direct experience. Even if AI becomes as good as humans I think we still need to train our brains with direct, diverse & empowering experiences to maximise its potential. Otherwise our brains will atrophy.

Okay, let's start fresh and think about how a 10-year-old might approach this problem. We want to find which numbers, when multiplied, equal 3195. Since we have a box for a two-digit number multiplied by a three-digit number, that's a good starting point.

Instead of just trying random combinations, let's think about estimation.

Guiding Question 1: Looking at the answer 3,195, can you think of two numbers (a rough guess, they don't have to be exact) that would multiply to give a number close to that? Think of simpler numbers. For example, what's 30 multiplied by 100? Does that give you an idea of what kind of numbers we might be looking for? We know we can't use 0, but it helps us estimate.

I’m seeing 3 target user types of AI agents: 1. Non-technical agent users: the zapier / nocode crowd. 2. Tech scripters: not day-to-day dev but comfortable w/ cmd lines & a bit of python, json, yaml, bash etc 3. Developers: “what do agents bring me that I can’t just code?” Which are you? #aiagents

Do you need to code to build apps any more? Just built another app avoiding any technical knowledge. I documented each step. Full video to come. Key thing to share now was my wrap-up instruction: a selection of docs for future contributors. The docs it created were great particularly (3). #aiagents

At this point I want you to create a design doc that describes the following things. The things below are to be made into separate md files in a doc/ directory.
1. mermaid diagrams showing the key objects and their relationships
2. mermaid sequence diagram showing key interactions for the main use cases
3. summarise the agent journey so far: review the entire chat history and highlight the things that were easy to implement (one prompt => feature) and things that were very hard to implement (e.g. drag and drop, requiring task decomposition, separate test pages, reintegration).
4. following this, create a maintenance guide whose sole objective is to help the next contributors to the code base.
It should explain the frameworks and services used, the components, and notes on anything about the implementation that may not be obvious to someone even if they have experience with the framework used.
5. finally summarise areas that need to be developed to turn this into a proper product that can be supported, maintained and expanded.E.g. logging, telemetry, security considerations etc.
