Being GenX/Millennial is such a trip. In our lifetimes, we saw people our age getting wild criminal penalties for pirating music and now have to sit and watch as companies gobble up our work with impunity.

Show me a picture on your phone that has your energy but isn’t a selfie

Gold framed, white matted print of Oscar Wilde quote in looping white script on a black background with pastel chalk looking sketched flowers. “With freedom, books, flowers and the moon, who could not be happy?”

Thank you 😭 I have to do my physio- it is not swollen today though so I’ll take it!

You’re not alone, Jessie. I am trying to fix an ankle issue. And then yesterday I stumbled in a hole in the road and made it worse 😭

I feel your pain. No sooner did I successfully erase my old Mac, break into my parents’ backup and reset the password, and successfully migrate their data onto my old laptop… Dad’s email got hacked and sent a party invite to 250 people 😂 and then he managed to lock himself out of his 💻 account. 🤦🏼‍♀️

On being named Trevor: “A name with no meaning whatsoever in South Africa. It’s just a name. My mother wanted her child beholden to no fates. She wanted me to be free to go anywhere, to do anything, be anyone.” 🥺

Julia Zwicker @juliamz.bsky.social · 19/06/2026

We’re close in age as well, and my only experience with South Africa was a lengthy visit (2 months) when I was in my early 20s.

Julia Zwicker @juliamz.bsky.social · 19/06/2026

Hilarious anecdote aside, this book is very engaging and thought provoking, and an accessible way to read about apartheid and life in South Africa through Trevor’s eyes.

I’m reading chapter 3 of the audiobook of Trevor Noah’s Born a Crime and I’m losing it 🤣 💩 #IYKYK His narration adds so much to the experience.

I’m not a cosplayer but I’ve worn faerie costumes twice for events and I feel cute as heck with pointy ears. 10/10 experience 🧝🏻‍♀️ If I wore plate armour, I bet I’d feel unstoppable too

I’m not vegan but only have lactose-free or oat milk at home. I have used it in mac & cheese or other roux-based sauces (plain, not vanilla!) and in pancakes, other baked goods. Some brands are more watery. The 🇨🇦 one I use is free of carrageenan & sugar, and is vitamin-fortified.

Also I just looked and either that mystery side dish isn’t available in my location or it’s completely generated 😕 no clue what it is. And I’m in agreement that there’s no reason to make use of AI here.

this intrepid fellow will lead us to the weekend

A brave chipmunk holds his beloved staff and gazes out from his burrow home that’s covered in ancient, soft green moss. He wears a hooded cape and other warrior/guide accoutrements…and looks as though he’s ready to begin a long journey. In the background, softly painted, is a large and ancient forest with huge trees. It’s an old place full of lore.

You really do, I love it so much. It was his final studio-produced album and has so many gems. You Don’t Know Me, Fever, and It Was A Very Good Year are my favourites.

Two albums that have been my constant companions for 20 years are Ray Charles’ brilliant duets album, Genius Loves Company (2004) and Plans by Death Cab for Cutie (2005).

Album cover of Genius Loves Company by Ray Charles. A black and white image of Ray with a bright smile as he sings.

Album cover of PLANS by Death Cab for Cutie. A dimly lit, soft focused photo of plants with a lit up apartment building behind it. Title and artist are in focus.

Starting with a protein smoothie (orange creamsicle!!) and then coffee and a treat. I deserve one, it is Admin Professionals Day. Later I have band practice which has nice people and keeps my focus away from screens 🎺

I canceled Disney a few months ago and set Netflix to go down to the ad tier next month, we’ll see if that’s annoying enough. I bought a backup to avoid paying 🍏 more for ☁️ but I still have their music service. I do enjoy my record player when I’m at home though. The P&P soundtrack! 😍

I’m used to bigots sounding off about DEI 🤨 but SEL??! That’s new to me so I looked it up and HOW can this be something to “sound the alarm” on Social emotional learning (SEL) is a methodology that helps students better comprehend their emotions & demonstrate empathy for others.
