A little something I whipped up today for complimentary colour practice. I was thinking I’ve not posted a lot of my old stuff on here so maybe I should start posting some retro sketchbook stuff? That would be fun 😏🥸 #art #sketchbook #watercolour

He’s married with children and his wife owns a pet shop. There’s a video explaining how the project started on his YouTube channel.

The last few weeks have been a rollercoaster of chaos and me just zoning out in moments of quiet. Hopefully I’ll be able to find some equilibrium towards the end of the year. Just a quick sketch I did using some Uni coloured pencils. #sketchbook #art

That would be nice. I have no idea what 90% of the trending hashtags mean 90% of the time besides the hazy notion that it’s some American thing.

This is such dangerous thinking because something being the norm doesn’t make it good or the right thing to do. There’s a reason we have bans on things like slavery and child labour these days, they were once very normal (many argued even beneficial) things.

The wind blows where it wants, Erik Desmazières, 1989.
Detailed etching titled The Wind Blows Where It Wants by French artist Erik Desmazières, created in 1989.
The artwork depicts a dramatic interior scene of a grand, ornate room. A strong gust of wind is shown blowing through a large arched window or doorway, causing a white curtain or sheet to billow and twist dramatically through the space. The room is furnished in a detailed, classical style, with a large, elaborate chandelier hanging from the ceiling, a carved desk, and several richly upholstered chairs.

Been quiet as I’ve been busy. Busy being on holiday. Still got a while to go. It’s not much, but it’s honest work.

Back when I was trying to get assessed I was put on several waiting lists, then got an appt by self-paying. 1 year after I was assessed I get a phone call from one of the waitlists asking me if I wanted an appt in a years’ time. Two years for an appt if you can’t afford €600 out of pocket is WILD.

I usually find some comfort in my routine after the chaos of a holiday, but I have kids in school so my routine is to a large extent rigid and set externally. I find external routines far easier to follow than ones I set for myself… But I hate having someone else to answer to. Just AuDHD things? 😇

I’ve always been amused by the whole “it takes 30 days for a routine to become a habit” because I have had routines which I have still had to put effort into maintaining two years down the line AND I would drop them without even noticing if so much as a week of illness interrupted the routine 😂

This week was pure chaos so barely any time was had to draw non-work stuff. I scratched at this when my brain needed a reset. Marbel acrylic markers in my white as snow American sketchbook. #art #inktober #sketchbook

One of the great things about having ME/CFS with comorbid anxiety disorder is that on the days you feel good and have the energy to do things you’re constantly wringing your hands worrying about whether or not you’ll overdo it and what if you DO burn out and maybe you should stop but etc. 😶‍🌫️

More Inktober stuff. The first one is ink and pencils and the second is acrylic marker but since I’m not following any rules these year these also count 😇 #inktober #art #sketchbook

It’s the other way around: your art is still yours, but since he copyrighted the name “Inktober” artists aren’t allowed to use the name for commercial reasons. What this means is that you can’t, for example, sell prints for your Inktober art and label them as “Inktober art” to advertise them.

Inktober without a prompt list, day 2. Yes, I like trees! Amsterdam acrylic inks and dip pen. I bought this sketchbook in London, it’s from Stillman & Brin, an American company. The paper is smooth but still a bit textured and is as white an as American pop star’s teeth. #art #inktober

Inspired by Inktober I pulled out my late uncle’s pen nib collection and started rummaging. I found a lot of aesthetic nibs but also something which has stumped me… The bottom bit. It looks like a little club. Does any experienced inker have an idea what this is for? #ink #dippen #inktober

On an art-related note, I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to find it what an absolute beast Turner was. Honestly one of the most diverse outputs I’ve ever seen. Legend.

I 100% agree with you on that. But this is just aerial perspective the rules of which have been applied in art since at least as early as Ancient Rome and it’s not that deep. Look up Rayleigh scattering and diffuse sky radiation.

Julia Bazanska @juliabazanska.bsky.social · 25/09/2025
Please just don’t quote the rules of aerial perspective at you when you use the one exception to try to undermine the rule? Yeah, no, I’ll carry on. Nature obeys the rules of physics which means light refracts in very specific and consistent ways regardless of your take on the matter.

I have, many times. The night sky follows the same rule, it gets lighter towards the horizon. The one specific case you bring up - sunset and encroaching darkness - seems to contradict that because you’re comparing the dark side not with itself but with the still visible sun.

Water bodies get darker towards the horizon. Skies get lighter and warmer.

As I said in another reply, I don’t know anything about the second image and I agree the age wouldn’t match so it’s probably two different boys. The rest stands.

I don’t know anything about the second photo, I was just referring to your assumption the first photo would be very old. If it is the same boy he would be twelve-ish which does seem too young for the second photo so I’m assuming it’s a different boy from her center.

The first image is from 2016, we had very good photo quality “back then”. The boy was three years old in that photo. The lady is from Denmark (can’t remember either their names, sorry) and she runs a center which saves abandoned children.

I hope this three-week-headache crowned by this two-day migraine is just a symptom of my transforming and emerging into a higher, better version of myself, like Athena springing from Zeus’s cracked-open skull. If not I will be writing a strongly-worded letter to the Universe.
