I have Hulu through my Verizon plan, and it recently got downgraded to Hulu with ads. I’m learning there are no TV shows I like enough to watch 10 minutes of ads for anymore, The Bear included.

The $40 I pay a year for PictureThis is still worth it, but I double check it against iNaturalist. I check both against FloraQuest from the NC Botanical Garden.

This weekend, I tested whether Claude can identify plants/weeds as well as the paid plant apps (or at all), and the answer is a definitely not. Claude isn't specialized enough and didn't much correct.

I think Apple is done with VR/MR. Cook always favored AR, and he's talked it up for a decade. Joz said combining digital/physical worlds is an inevitability when asked about smart glasses. Ternus was enthusiastic about Vision Pro in a recent interview, but mostly in a spatial computing framework.

For me, Vision Pro is the headset form factor. That's "dead," and there's no new model in the works. Is it dead forever? 🤷‍♀️ If you see Vision Pro as a precursor to AR glasses, then it's alive and well. Apple can keep the M5 Vision Pro going for years, and the visionOS platform isn't going anywhere.

In hindsight, I should have used a different title for this article, but it sparked good conversation. Vision Pro users/software devs are super passionate. I think the pushback comes down to what the Vision Pro is. www.macrumors.com/2026/04/29/a...

ChatGPT’s latest stylistic quirk is sinister, infuriating – and absolutely everywhere | Stuart Heritage
Once you start noticing “it’s not X, it’s Y” as you scroll online, you can’t fail to register it. I’ve become so hypervigilant that it has seeped into my subconscious thoughts

It’s really hard to find non-AI art on Etsy nowadays. I normally buy work at shows and from artist sites as I come across things I like, but I have some frames I hung that I need something non-specific for and it’s a real shitshow out there now.

Yesterday NC sent out a “blue alert” because a cop got shot in Georgia. It went out as an emergency alert, which seems like a great way to get people to turn them off. this person was SIX HOURS from where I am, on foot, and never traveled from the original area.

"The whole thing is a hoax," Trump says of the Epstein scandal while Tim Cook is sandwiched between Trump and Vance. Minutes earlier, Cook gave Trump a ridiculous glass and 24k gold statue in a very spectacular display of sucking up.

The solution is to avoid Amazon, of course, and I try, but there are some things that are hard to find elsewhere. I'm tired of this AI hellscape.

Amazon's AI is the worst. Amazon sent me the wrong item, I did a return, Amazon sent me the correct item. Today I got an email that I returned the wrong item (DUH), and was going to get charged. The AI has no flow for this, but tried to convince me I didn't need to speak to someone.

I just realized the output in that screenshot doesn't even include blood pressure, lol. Also: I didn't include the screenshot with the partner company that Trump Mobile is allegedly working with (Doctegrity) because I can't find evidence that that they advertise such a feature.

Juli Clover @juli.bsky.social · 16/06/2025
The Trump Mobile Plan website claims that it will include Telehealth with "Contactless Blood Pressure, Heart Rate Monitoring." It seems to imply that these features will work with a biometric face scan, which is very impressive technology for a cellular service.

Well, I can promise you I didn’t mean to. I think I got my wires crossed and mistook it for something else we’d flagged as new. I didn’t realize it was an iOS 18 feature, totally missed the gesture to find it there. I’ve removed my article, and I apologize for the error. Major mistake on my part.

It can look super nice as is, with minimal backgrounds. But I want my cat as my wallpaper, and Apple didn’t account for that apparently.

Control Center is a good example of the background dependency. I think the first screenshot here is mostly okay, though I’d still like less translucency. The second is chaos and distracting. This is beta 1, and there’s time for refining. I’m glad to see something fresh overall.

Juli Clover @juli.bsky.social · 10/06/2025
I thought it would have more of a frosted glass look, and instead it’s very transparent. Notifications and Control Center could stand to be more opaque to fix readability. I am not running into any frustrations with the navigation changes. It’s all still intuitive and works as expected so far.

I’m at a little under 24 hours with Liquid Glass, and it’s growing on me. There are parts of it that are great - collapsing nav bar in Safari and TV, app icons, expanding menus, folder backgrounds, and the look in general with the right wallpaper. It’s very background dependent right now.

New game for you all: ask google what a made-up phrase means.
The phrase "hoop hoop hoop hoop hoop" can be interpreted in a few ways. It's most likely a playful or humorous way of saying "basketball" or referring to playing basketball, as "hoops" is slang for basketball. However, it could also be a simple repetition of the word "hoop" to emphasize the circular shape of a hoop, a ring, or the hula-hoop. The phrase "making the milk sizzle" likely refers to the act of causing something, particularly a product or idea, to be exciting, interesting, or even to be very hot. It's a metaphor for creating an emotional connection or a sense of excitement around something. The word "sizzle" itself suggests a hissing sound, often associated with food cooking in a pan, and this sound is used to describe the emotional impact of a product or idea on a customer. The phrase "stringing beans for pleasant means" suggests a pleasant social activity or event, often involving family or friends, where green beans are being prepared or eaten according to the Dictionary of American Regional English.

With an unhinged lunatic running the country, flanked by some of the most unqualified people the U.S. has to offer, why would any company want to build here? Even if it were remotely feasible, moving manufacturing to the U.S. would leave companies even more at the mercy of Trump.

If Apple Intelligence Siri features work 2/3rds of the time, I don’t understand why they’re not released. Has the Siri team used Siri? I wouldn’t say current Siri does what I ask 2/3rds of the time. Genmoji, Image Playground, and notification summaries also aren’t at 100%.

The dismantling of environmental protections is unbelievably sad. How many more plants, insects, and animals will be wiped out? For the last 2 years, I've spent $$$ turning my garden into a native oasis, and it's my only comfort. I'll write more later, but it makes a difference on a micro scale.
