Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 09/04/2026I recently looked at over 850K social accounts connected to Buffer to see which platforms are seeing the most growth (in terms of follower counts). LinkedIn is leading the pack with a median annualized growth rate of around 18%, and Facebook is at 0%, with only 43% of accounts showing any growth. 010
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 06/02/2026Great question @runtcpip.bsky.social! The US and UK are our two biggest markets by far. People from the US account for 36% of our active users and people from the UK account for 12%. The next highest percentage is 4.4% from Canada. Let me know if you have any more questions! 😊 030
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 20/01/2026These are risky moves, but we have faith that doing the right thing will be beneficial to everyone. 010
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 20/01/2026Each of these initiatives loses us money in the short-term, approximately $26K in MRR for providing Start Pages and $65K for reducing prices. We hope that in the long run people will come to trust Buffer more and advocate for us, but it's tricky to quantify this in terms of MRR. 120

Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 18/12/2025You had to have sent a post with Buffer in 2025 and been subscribed to our emails. If you feel comfortable sharing your Buffer email address I could check our database for you 000
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 18/12/2025Again the subject matter was heavy, but Stella Levi's recounting of life in the Jewish quarter of Rhodes before WWII completely transported me. An entire way of life that was centuries old, simply gone because of the Nazis. 000
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 18/12/2025I loved the author's previous book on Chernobyl and found this one similarly engrossing. The subject matter is devastating though. We have to learn from our failures if we want to avoid repeating them. 100
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 18/12/2025I had read Tana French before, but the Dublin Murder Squad series took over my life for 4 months. I devoured every book Tana French has written after this, including those that I had already read. Why does Ireland produce so many outstanding authors? 100
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 18/12/2025This was a great reading year for me. Thanks to @buffer.com's generous book reimbursement program I was able to read 26 books, 19 of which were fiction. In the thread below I'll share my three favorites of the year. 100
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 15/12/2025My 2025 year in review from @buffer.com: - I was ranked exactly 115,290th in terms of posts sent this year. Really need to crack the top 100K next year 😅 - Surprisingly I was ranked in the top 15% in terms of total engagement. I'll take it! - Bluesky was my top platform 🤝 171
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 02/12/2025I present to you the top 10 emojis used in @buffer.com in 2024 and 2025 🥇 🥈 🥉 000
Reposted by JulianBuffer @buffer.com · 02/12/2025For almost a year, Sr Software Engineer @ Buffer, Arek Panek lived inside one of the most stubborn product mysteries at Buffer: posts getting “stuck in processing.” A tiny percentage of updates that were neither sent nor errored. Just stuck. This became his North Star, & he refused to let it go! 1184
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 12/11/2025Today we're launching a big new feature called Community. It helps you manage comments and replies on LinkedIn, Threads, X, Facebook, Instagram, and Bluesky in @buffer. The team has worked really hard on this, and it's available for free. Check it out! buff.ly/12vyzLpbuffer.comWe Built a New Feature to Help You Manage Comments on 6 PlatformsWith Buffer's Community, you can see and reply to comments from Instagram, Facebook, Threads, Bluesky, X, and LinkedIn — all in one workspace. Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 29/10/2025Exciting news: @buffer.com is rolling out dark mode to all users today! Head to settings -> preferences -> appearance to switch to the dark side 🌚 000
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 23/10/2025Some fun changes are coming to Buffer, just in time for Halloween 👻 000
Reposted by JulianBuffer @buffer.com · 25/09/2025👋 Julian here, Buffer's resident data scientist. Have you ever wondered how we come up with the best times to post for each platform? Well, today's your lucky day. Let's dive in. 1/10 2152
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 16/09/2025A new @buffer.com leaderboard for you all: these are the team members with the most consecutive weeks hitting their posting goals. Kudos to these Bufferoos 👏 000
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 27/08/2025Mainly the fact that I work at Buffer and have access to a treasure trove of data 😉 100
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 27/08/2025Some new @buffer.com data on engagement over on X. Premium accounts definitely get more engagement (and reach), and link posts have been getting punished for non-Premium accounts. 020
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 19/08/2025Last week I shared a @buffer.com leaderboard for LinkedIn posting streaks, and this week it's Threads' turn. Brandon (@bgreen.lol) absolutely crushing the rest of us with a 62 week posting streak 😮 What's next? 041
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 12/08/2025Trying something new that was suggested to me last week: a @Buffer.com posting streak leaderboard specifically for LinkedIn! Jenny takes the top spot this week with 19 consecutive weeks of great content 👸 121
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 03/08/2025It's been a minute, but here's the latest @buffer.com streaks leaderboard. It doesn't change much so I'm thinking of doing something different, like ranking folks by the number of consecutive weeks in which posting goals are met. What do you all think? 141
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 15/07/2025New @buffer.com posting streak leaderboard, featuring new colors and, by popular request, randomized ordering within streak groups 😁 Let me know what you all think! 020
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 09/07/2025Last week I analyzed over 2 million Instagram posts from over 100K accounts to understand how posting frequency affects growth and reach. Check it out here:buff.lyHow Often to Post to Instagram – Data BlogJulian Winternheimer 020
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 01/07/2025Lots of new names and faces on the Buffer streaks leaderboard this week! 010
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 25/06/2025This week I spent some time analyzing how posting frequency affects follower growth. This analysis of over 15 million posts from 160K profiles provides evidence that, unsurprisingly, posting frequency has a clear, positive impact on follower growth. Check out the analysis here: buff.ly/pT74Bqz 000
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 24/06/2025This was a fun plot to build and will be super useful when reviewing our key metrics. XmR charts may not be perfect but they go a long way in helping us understand www.linkedin.com/posts/heaton...linkedin.comToo many teams overreact to normal metric movement. | Simon HeatonToo many teams overreact to normal metric movement. Your boss sees a KPI drop week-over-week, and panic ensues. But most of the time, these aren’t meaningful changes. They’re just routine variation.… 001
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 29/05/2025Haha it does extra good for Buffer to succeed in this way 010
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 28/05/2025One of the most gratifying aspects of @buffer.com achieving its all-time high in MRR is seeing the acceleration of growth. Not only is MRR higher than it has ever been, but we're growing faster than we have in a long time. 2111
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 27/05/2025Thanks! Did you say you made xmr plots before? That’s my next step 110
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 25/05/2025Thanks man! I've also been working on a site with the observable framework: jwinternheimer.github.io/observable_m... I can't wait to chat with you about it 😄jwinternheimer.github.ioHome | Buffer Metrics 110
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 23/05/2025We often get asked how we determine the best times to post for each social platform. In this blog post I share a more in-depth look at the methodology we use to suggest posting times for Instagram. symphonious-shortbread-cd2770.netlify.app/posts/best-t... 132
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 20/05/2025I'm not sure how it happened, but we have a new leader in the @buffer.com posting streaks leaderboard 🏅 142
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 14/05/2025The second @buffer.com posting streak leaderboard, featuring a few new faces. Tami retains the coveted top spot in the leaderboard but there's still an 8-way tie for first. 161
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 09/05/2025Thanks Mark, this is helpful. I think I'll stick with RStudio for a while as I haven't found a good reason to switch 000
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 08/05/2025It's happening... (again). It's been a long time and I'm excited to start sharing data insights from my work at @buffer.com more regularly again. 030
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 07/05/2025Thanks for the response. Any particular reason why you haven't made the switch for work projects? I'm still pretty satisfied with RStudio so I'll probably stick with it for a while longer 010
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 07/05/2025I'm way late to this, but how are #rstats people liking Positron now that it's been out for a while? RStudio still works great for me and I haven't yet found a compelling reason to switch, but I'm curious to hear what people think 220
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 07/05/2025Well done! There are a lot of you up there at the top of the leaderboard 😄 000
Julian @julheimer.bsky.social · 04/05/2025Introducing the @buffer.com posting streak leaderboard. I'll try to share a weekly update (keeping my own streak alive) and hopefully add more avatars to the plot. Made in #rstats. 251
