central Europe here. Luckily we always get at least some hours of daylight (unlike further north), though not necessarily sun. Today is pretty nice and my dahlia is displaying as July sunshine. 😄
photograph shows a yellow-orange dahlia flower. It is illuminated by the sun from behind, which almost makes it seem to glow.

Isn't it annoying to have to spend those few(admittedly lovely) sun hours at work? Well, doing my very best to make the most of the nicer autumn days. btw: I've found that, on top of vits, morning sessions with a daylight lightbulb also help. Wishing you a very sunshiny autumn!

100% agree. Plus: stop rubbing your autumn joy in my face. I'm grieving because summer is over and I can feel the lack of sunlight depression creeping up on me.

Ah, okay. I knew that some have been reclassified. I somehow misread your post as all asters are now officially being called something else. My mistake!

May I ask what they are called now?

I know I shouldn't self-diagnose based on internet satire, but this makes me wonder...

I had seen the goneth and was already angry before reading your comment. your peeve is my peeve - in this case at least.

I absolutely enjoy the contrast between her plummy accent, "strict but emphatic headmistress"-comments and happily shoving those huge forksful of cake into her mouth.

My first thought was it's only a matter of time until she wants a divorce.

I just started my first coffee of the day and wondered whom the poor scorpionfly was mourning. Then I realized that that's its name. Need to finish coffee before doing any more thinking.

true. And I may be relatively alone with my opinion on this one. It was recommended by so many people as a romantic lovestory...

By the time they have you on that table, the worst part will already be over. 😀 I hope you invested in some really fancy toilet paper as well.

I'm not sure if that fulfills the 'no trauma, no heartbreak' conditions. To be honest, I find it amazing how many people loved the book. To me it is the story of a male groomer and a woman who would rather die than consider not having children with him.

believe it or not: this seedling dahlia comes from the same mother as the last one. 🌱 #gardening #dahlia

Another seedling dahlia. I'm quite happy about this one, because the colours are very similar to its mother, a Pooh dahlia, that I unfortunately killed off last winter. #gardening #dahlia #flowers 🌱

I've always been baffled by these. To me this is clearly a kookaburra. I doubt that I would spot a goat, even if someone drew me a diagram and then made me stare at it while shouting "do you see it now?"

That's not exactly what the article says. It says "her worth was being disregarded". And to me that means that she has an INHERENT WORTH, not TO anyone, but AS a human and that the rapists decided to ignore it.

Maybe it's inspired not by British, but continental old worldy fraternities who (at least in Germany) are - surprise - racist mysoginist alcoholic networking clubs for sons (no need to say whose). (Please don't reply about the ONE sorority/non-racist fraternity you happen to know, everyone.)

last potato picture for today is the harvest from an unnamed potato I found sprouting in the cellar and just stuffed into a leftover grow bag. 🌱 #gardening #veggiegarden #potatoharvest
picture shows about a dozen yellow potatoes of varying sizes. some of them are super tiny.

the potato saga continues. harvest from Manou (1) and Violet Star (2), two varieties I bought actual seedling potatoes for in,the hope of turning them into more potatoes. 🌱 #gardening #veggiegarden #potatoharvest
photo shows 5 tiny violet potatoes with yellow eyes. They are rather pretty.picture shows my wooden kitchen table with no potatoes on it whatsoever.

I'll keep experimenting. I've heard of people getting big harvests from those vertical planters before, but I've also heard good things about grow bags and here we are... 😂

tonight, we feast! 🌱 I tried growing potatoes in bags this year. Dug up one of the plants today. I put in one potato and got 4 out, so I'm calling it a success and please don't rain on my parade... #gardening #vegetablegarden
photograph shows 4 small potatoes and 1 teeny tiny baby potato. They have reddish skin and some soil sticking to them.

We tried to order Sherryin Spanish in a bar in Jerez. We were very confused and our Spanish was criminally bad. So the waiter did the only reasonable thing and just walked away.

I learned that in my French course and still remember it - unlike French grammar. I also react to people cutting cheese "wrong" like a French character in a ridiculously offensive film from the 50s.

Go and look at some medieval or earely modern manuscripts and you will see examples that actually look a bit like #. (There have always been people whose handwriting was hardly legible! 😉) It's a similar story to Latin et becoming &.
