Repeal is nearly impossible because it takes 2/3 vote in both houses of Congress and 3/4 of the states to repeal. Founders never wanted parties but they were inevitable from the get go. We need a parliament. Nearly impossible to get one. Hope that helps.

There are some twists to this like how electoral votes are allocated based on popular vote in presidential elections (Maine and New Hampshire) and a few places have ranked choice for local and state elections. Maine has it for their gubernatorial race. Next time just say you are not in the U.S.

In a jungle primary the top two candidates (regardless of party) advance to the general election. That is what you see in California. So it could be 2 people from the same party.

A runoff is held in southern states to basically keep in place a white power structure. In those runoffs, a primary candidate has to get over 50% of the vote. So if there are 5 candidates and nobody gets +50% in a primary there is a runoff. In most states it’s just a majority.

Primaries choose the candidate from each party to run in a general election. A general election determines the president and Congress. It also is an election for state legislative representatives and the governor of each state.
