When I say I’m excited to see The Odyssey because I love the story I mean specifically this book which I read and re-read when I was a kid.
The cover of a book called “Odysseus The Greatest Hero of Them All” with an image of Tony Robinson speaking on the front. The subtitle is “Now an enthralling television series narrated by Tony Robinson”. The authors are Tony Robinson and Richard Curtis

Off this week so am at RHS Bridgewater and it’s just heaven.
A view across a little green meadow, dappled with sunlight. Some old buildings are in the distance, one with a pointed spire.

My niece drew me this picture of an opossum and it brought me so much joy. Like, it has the *essence* of an opossum.
A child’s drawing of an opossum. It has googly eyes and a pink glittery tail and pink smile.

Minutes before not quite disaster but a bit overcooked…I’m quite happy these turned out to be delicate little dumplings and not the Chinese Cornish pasties I usually end up making. Still a way to go! But they were so tiny and cute!
Some dumplings folded into half moon shapes, sat in a frying pan about to be cooked.

Watching Century Falls as a kid has forever ruined - or more properly, improved places like this for me. Always half convinced a scary ritual involving a gold mask is about to happen.

I don’t know why I’m so attached to Odeon in the Great Northern, especially as the whole development is sadly turning into yet more flats. But I do love it, especially the quiet on Sunday mornings.
A very large, empty cinema foyer, with movie posters on the wall but nothing else. There are escalators in the foreground.

I’m just a woman, stood in front of a cardboard box, trying to resist the urge to cut arm holes in it and pretend to be a robot.
A tall, narrow cardboard box with an open square at the top.

Geeky presents are the best presents. Loving teeny tiny Wyll and his little rapier. Also, two Minscs because I lost the first one I bought (I like to think him and Boo are having adventures on the Metrolink). #bg3
A selection of little badges depicting characters from Baldur’s gate as cute cartoon characters. Top row, Lae’zel, Wyll and Scratch, bottom row the owl bear cub and two Minscs.

Did a zine making class at work. The one I made about bird song was shit, especially as we only had the hour but I was kind of happy with this page.
An illustration of a robin in a tree that has been cut out of a magazine. Stuck to it are words cut from magazines, like “I kill you” “In could have died 10 times”, “Volatile emotions” and “Easy turkey”

No reason for this picture other than I like old wrought iron staircases and look, look at the pretty.
A wrought iron staircase running down the side of an old Victorian building. A modern glass tower is in the background.

Arnside is lovely and I don’t think any of the photos I took did it justice, all those lovely blues of faraway hills. Morecambe Bay is so eerily beautiful. It was also way sunnier!

I can’t help feeling the National Tile Museum in Lisbon kind of undersells how lovely it is. It feels more art gallery than museum in places, everything is well explained without being too intrusive, and the building is a lovely old convent with a stunning church.
A blue camel drawn on a white tile. The style is informal with fluidly drawn lines. The convent church, view looking slight upwards to above the altar. The church is decorated with gilded surfaces, blue painted tiles and baroque looking paintings.A blue, dark turquoise and light turquoise piece of art (in tiles!) It looks early 20th century.A modern piece of art - stark black print on white chipped tiles reads “porquê não sei, porquê não sei ainda”

Turton Tower is awesome! Well worth a look if you’re in that neck of the woods, the volunteers were really knowledgeable. Also, 99% sure this chair is haunted.

A gorgeous walk around Entwistle (with! bonus! museum!) but I have a bone to pick with the person who wrote the route instructions - ‘eventually’ and ‘shortly after’ are properly useless descriptions. I could have done without the 4 miles of being lost, thanks.

Yay yay yay. Hamilton was SO GOOD. The UK touring cast put their own spin on it, with a bit more humour but still as moving and gorgeous as I could have hoped for. Big smiles, the goofiest.
An empty stage set of Hamilton, just prior to the show.

I feel like I’m seeing more and more stray cats on this city. This one looking like the master of all he surveys:
A black and white cat sits on a concrete wall behind some black railings. Behind him is a vista of the city of Lisbon. Another black cat sits a short distance away.

Very much enjoyed my time at ‘Spider-Man film with Orchestra’
A ticket with the phrase ‘Spider-Man Film with Orchestra’ as the name of the event. The stage at the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester. There is a small orchestra surrounded by red and blue vertical lights and above them a screen with an image of the film Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse

Also kind of intrigued by this. It looks like a pilgrimage thing (it’s probably in fact just a random nailed to a fence thing)
A tiny metal sculpture of a cathedral, that looks a little like a door knocker, hanging from the post of a stile.

Long circular walk from Hebden Bridge. Really beautiful and I’m like 99% sure the scarecrow wasn’t haunted.
Photo of a moorland field.
