I enjoyed all the panels I got to attend today immensely, but I was particularly proud of the graduate students & PhD students from my team who presented their research or chaired panels at this year's GfF #conference, some of them while also working behind the scenes of the event 👏👏👏

I spent the last day of this year's #EAAS2026 conference in Bologna attending a panel discussion on Teaching #AmericanStudies in Europe, a panel on US #DokuPoetry, the concluding keynote on the representational history of #CrispusAttucs & eating delicious pasta. Full brain + full stomach = ☺️

So much important work was presented on day 2 of the #EAAS2026. I attended a discussion on #AcademicFreedom on both sides of the Atlantic, a panel on future visions of freedom in #ScienceFiction & the keynote, an insistent meditation on ongoing debates about violent resistance to #StateViolence.

What a rich first full conference day we had at the #EAAS2026 in Bologna yesterday! I attended two great panels, the #EAASPoetryNetwork meeting, gave my own talk & then had the privilege of getting to listen to #JorieGraham discuss her new poetry collection 'Killing Spree'. Powerful & unsettling.

So thrilled to be able to take part in this year's #EAAS conference in Bologna.
