Sunday #knitting progress on "Antique Filigree" yoke sweater by Rachel Illsley in Rosa Pomar Modim. Started on Sept 1. Getting a little nervous about what I have left of contrast color heading into sleeve work. Confirmed LYS still has in stock if need to buy another skein. Phew. #YarnChicken

I made some #knitting progress while on vacation in Canada last week. This is my Antique Filigree by Rachel Illsey in Rosa Pomar Mondim fingering weight wool. Love it so far.

My penguin sweater for hubby is done! #knitting Here is yoke after blocking. I decided to do ladderback jacquard stranded technique for very first time instead of catching floats for long stretches of black behind white. Watched a bunch of YouTube videos to learn. Very happy with results!

Progress on the penguins. Fun pattern. Should finish it in the next few days. I noticed a slight mistake I made in the placement of the snowflakes above the penguins. They're just a bit to the left when they should be centered. Oh well, the recipient (my hubby) is to the left too. :-) #Knitting
Nearly finished knitted sweater in multiple colors featuring a yoke of penguins.

I updated my phone to iOS26 public beta for one reason: screening unknown callers and filtering texts. I had been using Aura before. So far, the native features do not disappoint.

Anyone who already recertifies annually for Medicaid with work requirements (yes, it’s a thing) knows it’s a ridiculous joke in big, horrid bill that everyone entitled will have to do it, and more often. With no increase in staff or technology in these offices, it’s insane. People will be hurt.

I wonder how much profit Quest Diagnostics makes from those who blindly pay small amounts and don't double check claims? My kid is dual special needs. $0 copay for routine labs. Quest invoices $10-20 every single time. I fight it and win after I call them and raise heck every time. It's tiring.

It was fun finishing some small #knit projects in the last couple of weeks to give coworkers gifts while I was onsite with them last week. 2 of 3 of these were made with yarn I got at the #PhillyYarnCrawl a few weeks ago. 🧶

Handmaid’s Tale, Hacks, and Black Mirror are all starting new seasons next week. The world as we fear it is, the world as we wish it was, and the world as it could be. Can’t wait for a few weeks of appointment television to break up the evening doom scrolling.

Last ep of The Pitt reminded me I need to donate blood. I’m O neg. I made appt this week. Challenge is I’m on 10mg Eliquis/day indefinitely due to DVT/PE a few years ago. I don’t have excessive bleeding or bruising when I get labs. Will they turn me away? Red Cross website is unclear.

This is a President and Administration that blames its own citizens for the crime of being who they are. So today's news of blaming the attacked instead of the attacker makes me furious. It makes me sad. It doesn't surprise me one bit. They voted for this. Remind them.

Folks who stayed on Twitter after Musk took over 2.5 yrs ago didn't appreciate how heartless he was towards employees he wanted to slash fast. That's why many of us deleted our accounts right away. Then his fellow tech bros, seeing little consequence, followed his lead. I think folks get it now.

Some truly think safety net programs are distributed like candy. My disabled adult kid is dual qualified for Medicare and Medicaid. She has job, lives independently, gets around community. All IMPOSSIBLE without these programs. All piles of paperwork and bureaucracy for her mother to maintain.

Last night I finished body of my “Book Club Cardigan.” Now on to sleeves and then button band. I’m bit nervous about yarn chicken with 2.25 skeins of NFC Studio Worsted left. Always risk with hand dyed yarn. At worst it means button band in different color. #knitting 🧶

I wonder what the right-wing reaction would be if George Soros had unregulated, limitless access to highly sensitive personal information of every American and our federal payment systems. They'd be cool with that as long as he was bragging that he was doing it on weekends, right?

I left Twitter a week after Musk took over in 2022. Not because I feared he would destroy a network I enjoyed. Which he eventually did. But because he heartlessly destroyed lives of its employees. A few months later other tech bros followed his lead because no one in power stood up to stop it.

My husband wanted to swing by Target to buy a new electric toothbrush. I said, “you know, there are other stores that sell them.” I value companies that prioritize employing people who don’t look and think like the hiring manager. And now we’re NOT shopping at Target today. It was that easy.

My 26 y.o. is a kind, thoughtful human. They want to be called a name they chose. Every time I use their chosen name and correct pronouns for them and the people we both care about is another chance to say, “I see you. I love you.” What kind of monster wants to take that away from us? And why?

First they talk to us in our own friendly language and tone. Then, because they’re so nice and we’re lazy, we willingly let them do stuff for us while we banter. They need and are given more and more power. Didn’t we all see this movie already?

My goal for next 4 years is not waste time w/outrage or be goaded to click alarmist headlines. This isn't good vs. evil or right vs. wrong. It's people doing best they can with information they're fed to fear and hate each other. We're all being manipulated by billionaires. Know the true enemy.
