Anytime there was a pitched battle in any of those places, the US beat the piss out of their opponents. There is a big difference between a counterinsurgency/guerrilla war than an army-on-army matchup, and this clearly assumes the latter.

And that more-than-twice figure is for short-range B-17 missions. That was about 8000 lbs. For long-range missions, it was cut to 4500 lbs. That's basically two Mk 84 bombs (which, again, can be laser-guided and devastatingly accurate). An F-16 can easily carry SIX of those AND a drop tank.

Fun fact: One (1) F-16 can carry a bombload more than TWICE that of a B-17 Flying Fortress, they can be precision-guided, and, importantly, there is NO DEFENSE AGAINST THEM IN 1939. None. So every. Single. F-16. is worth FAR more than an entire B-17 bomb wing.

Egypt ALONE has 1300 M1A1 tanks, 220 F-16s, and 54 Dassault Rafale fighter jets. Modern tanks can fire and hit targets on the move. And jets vs propellers?
