#ShowMeYourKnits. This week I'm recovering from 3 days of giving natural dyeing demos at the fair. 7 rows to go on the left armhole of my vest, then sew down the facings, weave in the ends, block and add the buttons. My granddaughter has picked out the colors for her cardigan--my fall project.

#ShowMeYourKnits Week 101 What's on your needles? It's been almost too hot to knit, certainly too hot to think, so I've been knitting simple hats for the local shelter before next winter comes. I finished 2 very dark (eye straining) brown ones and am about to start one with this pretty mix.
A skein of blue and green variegated Malabrigo sock yarn.

#showmeyourknits Week 97 stripes My Time & Temperature scarf was a great way to use up scraps of fingering yarn. Knit in a tube with 3 rows for each day's high and 3 rows of black garter stitch to mark each month. It's been interesting to see the many ways knitters have interpreted this idea.

#Showmeyourknits Week 93 is stockinette. A rare example as I most always knit in the round. A gift of 1100 yards of Rowanspun Dk became an 18" x 72" wrap kept on my Sacred Knitting Chair during the cooler months. Gray is my favorite color for knitting & wearing, though I'm a natural dyer by trade.

#showmeyourknits It's GREEN week. This is my Green Wood by Kersten Olsson, of Bohus Stickning. I used a SOLsilke Bohus angora-merino yarn kit (worth every penny) which was generous enough to provide extra green for 2 tams. Steeked because I prefer cardigans, finished in 2015, and worn frequently

#Showmeyourknits Week 85, What's on your needles? While the Fair Isle sweater knit for my friend dries, I've started a stranded sweater for me. Just 2 colors this time. Lighter grayish-brown Shetland from my big stash which I scored at an amazing sale. The dark brown--a little softer--was a gift.

#showmeyourknits Week 84 is sweaters. One of my most frequently worn. Knit in 2020 with 5 shades of vintage Shetland yarn, using Meg Swansen's Fair Isle Cardigan for basic structure (I've used the pattern several times) & Elizabeth Zimmermanns' Three & One Sweater for the colorwork. I-cord trim.

#showmeyourknits Grays come around again. Although I'm a natural dyer focusing on strong colors, I love natural sheep's grays. Clockwise from top: pale gray scarf, dark jacket worn over the vest in yesterday's 6 F temps, my V-neck, one of my husband's heavy fishing sweaters. More in the closet.

#showmeyourknits FIRSTS! I found a photo online from a McCall's Needlework & Crafts magazine that shows the pattern for the first sweater I knit back in 1960 at age 12. Mine used Bernat Nylo Germantown with a medium gray main color. Intarsia--oy! But it came out just fine and got a lot of wear.
