This information gets a little bit technical, but it's important information for understanding what’s going on in Papua New Guinea’s forests right now, so stay with us! ↪️ We’re talking about FCAs, which is short for Forest Clearing Authority.

Papua New Guinea’s Forest Authority is failing to keep the logging industry in check. ⚠️ 🔍 And we’ve just published two new reports with ACT NOW!, which add to mounting evidence of this failure.
Black and orange graphic titled 'We published these new reports today.' It shows two aerial/satellite photos of logging and land clearing in forested areas. Left image: 'FCA Case Study #1 Update — Thirteen Years and Still No Crop? The Wammy Rural Development Project,' showing a river with cleared land and log stockpiles. Right image: 'FCA Case Study #2 Update — An Illegal Forest Grab: The Mengen Integrated Agriculture Project,' showing forest with roads cut through and cleared patches. Papua New Guinea’s National Court agreed with the Wanigela community that an injustice has taken place in uplifting a suspension of an Environment Permit, which allowed logging in their village. Yet, the Court is allowing logging to continue for at least another seven months. 🪵
"Justice delayed; Justice denied: PNG National Court ruled in favour of Wanigela villagers, so why is logging continuing?" Below the headline are two side-by-side satellite images of a forested area in Wanigela, Oro Province, Papua New Guinea, labeled "January 2026" and "July 2026". The January 2026 image shows mostly intact green forest with a few natural clearings. The July 2026 image shows the same area with extensive new logging roads and cleared patches cutting through the forest, plus some cloud cover. A caption below reads: "Destructive logging in Wanigela village, Papua New Guinea, has been allowed to continue despite a National Court finding a decision to uplift a suspension of the Environmental Permit in 2022 was unlawful, leaving customary resource owners with a hollow legal victory and ongoing destruction."

Sukundimi Walks Before Me is more than a film. 🌱It is a living story of resilience and community resistance against multi-national corporate interests. #SaveTheSepik
Silhouette of a person seated by a river at dusk, with two other people in the background. Overlaid text reads: 'Born from the heartbeat of the mighty Sepik River. Sukundimi Walks Before Me carries the living spirit, identity, its people and sacred ancestral waters of Papua New Guinea to the world. What began as a humble flame lit by Project Sepik has ignited international stages, crowned with the Sustainable Future Award at the Sydney Film Festival in June 2026 and screened in four countries.'"

A collage of a newspaper clipping headlined 'Save the Sepik film takes home the crown,' a group photo on a red carpet in front of a Sydney Film Festival backdrop, two men from Project Sepik holding a round trophy in front of the same backdrop, and a newspaper page headlined 'Landmark documentary film premieres at UPNG.' Below, text reads: 'Our movement, Save the Sepik, is shaping global narratives, proving that a dedicated grassroots movement can stir world consciousness. This is more than a film; it is a global journey detailing an existential battle, a powerful, sacred refusal that pits the sacred life of our people against the insatiable greed for profit.
