Am I getting this right? The White House is hosting an event where people beat each other?… Is this what the United States are supposed to represent?

A little late to the party, but here's my #artvsartist for 2025.
Art Vs. Artist. 9 panel grid with different illustrations: One bear coming out of hibernation, a ghost talking to a jack o' lantern, a kid running towards a wave, a black cat looking at it's witch through a crystal ball, a self portrait of Santi, Santa Claus handing out a gift to a kid, a girl jumping to a pile of leaves, a squirrel looking eagerly at an acorn and a ghost handing out a marigold to a spider.

On the 5th Anniversary of the failed January 6th insurrection attempt, we’re reminded how fragile democracy can be. We must remember the darkness of that day so it’s never repeated. As history is rewritten by some, we choose to speak the truth of what happened.

Hi, I'm the ProPublica reporter who's been tracking an unusual stat: U.S. citizens grabbed by immigration agents. I did it because the government isn’t. This is what I found.
White words on a black background read:

50+
Immigration agents have the authority to detain whom they reasonably suspect are in the country illegally. We found more than 50 Americans who were held after agents questioned their citizenship. They were almost all Latino.

~130
Agents also can arrest citizens who allegedly interfered with or assaulted officers. We compiled cases of about 130 Americans, including a dozen elected officials, accused of assaulting or impeding officers.

~20
Among the citizens detained are nearly 20 children, including two with cancer.

Hi all, I just published my latest Substack post. With recent focus on Ukrainian missiles, from Flamingo to "Long Neptune" and others, I thought I'd provide context by tracing the evolution of Ukraine's missile programs. Short summary below. missilematters.substack.com/p/ukraines-... 1/6

As tech companies like Amazon and Microsoft lay off workers and embrace A.I. coding tools, computer science graduates say they’re struggling to land jobs. “The rhetoric was, if you just learned to code, work hard and get a computer science degree, you can get six figures for your starting salary.”

Hi #kidlitartpostcard! I'm Santi Casares, an author/illustrator in search of representation. For this month's postcard I was thinking of the last splash of summer! :)
This is the #kidlitartpostcard from Santi Casares. A boy in swimming attire is running with his eyes closed and a big smile on his face towards the ocean. He doesn't realize a big wave is coming! A crab sees this and looks worried.

In this comic adaptation of the classic nursery rhyme Baa, Baa, Black Sheep, I changed one word to make the comic make more sense (I switched merry for Mary, thus naming the girl in the comic). Hope you enjoy it! #kidlit #kidlitart #nurseryrhyme
Comic adaptation of the nursery rhyme by Santiago Casares. In the first of two pages we see a redhead girl sitting on a fence that watches as a black sheep approaches, and then have a small conversation. The text goes: Baa, baa, black sheep, Have you any wool? Yes Mary have I, Three bags full;In the second page we see four panels, in the first two we see a king holding black pants, and a queen happy for getting black thread. In the third and fourth panels we see the black sheep approaching a black kid in a yellow shirt. The sheep gives the boy a black plush bear. The text goes: One for the Master, And one for the Dame, And one for the little boy Who lives down the lane.

And now here's my comics adaptation for Three Blind Mice. #kidlit #kidlitart #nurseryrhymes
First page of a comics adaptation of the nursery rhyme Three Blind Mice. Within four panels we see three blind mice walking, the shadow of the farmer’s wife and the three blind mice running. The text says: Three Blind Mice, Three Blind Mice. See how thy run, See how they run.Second page of the comics adaptation of Three Blind Mice by Santiago Casares.we see the farmer’s wife in shock, and then the three blind mice holding their freshly cut tails and crying. Finally the three blind mice walking without their tails. The text says: They all ran after the farmer’s wife, Who cut off their tails with a carving knife. Did you ever see such a thing a sight in your life. As three blind mice.

I've adapted a bunch of classic nursery rhymes into comics. Here's the first one, Humpty Dumpty. #kidlit #kidlitart #nurseryrhyme
First page of the comic adaptation of the nursery rhyme Humpty Dumpty by Santiago Casares. The images show Humpty Dumpty sitting on a wall admiring a butterfly until the place he's holding breaks and he falls down. The first part of the nursery rhyme appears here: Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.Second page of the comic adaptation of the nursery rhyme Humpty Dumpty by Santiago Casares. The images show a bunch of horses and knights, and then they looking over at a broken egg with a sad face. The last part of the nursery rhyme is here: All the king's horses... ...and all the king's men, Couldn't put Humpty together again.

In January, the Bluesky app began with a few hundred users. We’ve since grown past 1 million. I’m proud of what our team has accomplished in the last 9 months: we’ve open sourced the protocol and app, introduced self-verification via custom domains, and enabled algorithmic choice with custom feeds.
