The Veldt! Creeped me out in 1990 in HS. "Suddenly he realized why the screams sounded so familiar..."

Yankees dominated Red Sox and then never led vs. Rays. Shades of Sixers-Knicks after Celtics got bounced.

Fair. I'd argue Luka, as a five-time All-Star or whatever at the time, is less of a comp for Flagg today than Tatum and Brown were at 19-20. But maybe Kyrie steps up, especially since he's probably getting traded in a few months anyway.

The last time Kyrie was asked to complement a young star (or two) in Boston, he failed pretty heinously. I wonder if Flagg will get happy Kyrie, or this-young-fella-has-a-lot-to-learn-about-winning Kyrie?

I didn't see much of the Mets this year, but when I did, all I could think was, "Their BP pitcher must be terrible."

No hard feelings towards the Raiders, I guess, since he's using Mark Davis's barber.

My god, I count 12 former Red Sox (including farmhands) who suited up for the White Sox this year, and that doesn't even count manager Will Venable. And the best of them is Chase Meidroth, who just had a better season than all members of the so-called Big Three combined.

You can't on one hand say, "It's going to change everything about life as we know it," and then on the other say, "but don't worry, it will only automate the boring parts of your job, freeing you up for the parts you love, which will stay exactly the same."

No argument that Tatum is a more well-rounded player and better, more willing facilitator than Brown. He's better at everything. He's also ISO-inclined in ways I fear have nothing to do with his running mate. I could see "your turn, my turn" becoming "my turn, my turn."

That scenario quickly becomes "They've hit one 3 in their last 16 possessions."

I have zero confidence that a guy who has had three knee injuries in the last four years (plus a torn UCL!) is suddenly going to become reliable at age 36. Also, we're overlooking that iso ball-pounding was a two-man problem, and Tatum is still here. Stagnation wasn't all on Brown.

Fitting that the series ends with Caleb Durbin being overpowered. Scrappy player, but he can't be one of your primary offensive acquisitions. The Red Sox got what they paid for.

I'll never forget booking a 6 am flight to Tampa after midnight. Contained pretty much the entire Boston media. And then Garza shoved in Game 7.

This is what happens when you nickel and dime an offense. Remember the 2008 Red Sox that came back from 7-0 down in the seventh vs. the Rays to send the ALCS back to Tampa? Their lineup featured Coco, Pedroia, Ortiz, Youkilis, Drew, Bay and Varitek. That's an offense. This is a prayer.

Just an absolute disaster for Red Sox. Rutschman hands the Yankees 3 bases in a one-run game, Crochet doesn't get anyone out in his return, and the season is slipping away.

No idea why NBC thought that booth needed two Yankees. Gimme Framingham Lou, Benetti and Girardi and that's a solid broadcast. Rizzo's fine, but too many voices.

The Kyle Williams trifecta: doesn't hustle after Maye pick, even though he was intended target, steps out of bounds FOUR times on what should've been a 50-yard TD, fields kickoff on sideline and steps out at the 9. Another wasted WR pick...

I'm enjoying this rabbit hole. Here's another one from the same "field." Really strange how UD's default move is pasting a LB in solo coverage on a RB. (btw, Rob Frederickson had five career interceptions, none against the Chiefs) I could definitely see Fanatics doing this.

Willson Contreras said he’s not sure if he’ll be ready for the playoffs. Having a hard time gripping the bat after HBP a week ago. Said he’s getting all the treatment he can but doesn’t want to take a roster spot from someone if he can’t hit. He’s hoping it’ll improve soon but TBD

Once "crossed him over" and was really impressed with myself until I realized that not only had he poked the ball away from behind a la Rondo after I went by, but he had taken it on his own dribble in the other direction in one motion. I felt like Wile E. Coyote after racing off the Grand Canyon.

Boston College ranks 68th out of 68 teams in spending on the football roster, and I can't say I have a problem with that. (although I do miss the days a generation ago when Eagles football and hoops were good) www.nytimes.com/athletic/int...

The best teams are, on average, the ones paying players the most, but there's a wide disparity between the schools at the top and the bottom of major conferences.
