A4 #EduSkyAU I think a key point of play, is that there needs to be some rules. When people are playing with different rules, the games are rarely fun. I think Innovation is often about working out which rules are helping and which are getting in the way.

A3 #EduSkyAU Play can promote engagement, but I think we lose more... Risk Taking, Thinking Skills, Resilience, Communication. It feels like the idea of "High Challenge with Low Threat" can be explored when we use "Play"

A2 #EduSkyAU Play helps learning (more than Real World Applications in my experience). I feel lots of time is spent trying to find how what we learn applies to post school, but perhaps we would all have more fun and do more learning if we spent that enjoy on promoting play!

A2 #EduSkyAU Education does quite well with coaching when PST work with a Mentor. I have seen some huge growth in PST I have mentored. Ability to take on advice is one of the most important characteristics of a PST IMO

A1 #EduSkyAU In my first job I had a very capable Head of Faculty. He did some really impactful practices. One was to nominate me for a few awards, which opened my awareness to wider opportunities (whereas I woudl otherwise have remained isolated in the school)

A3 #EduSkyAU Having seen the Millennium Development Goals conclude then transition to SDG (with 2030 goals only 5 years away) Students still think this is a way off, but we will soon see how we are tracking with these goals. Students should start exploring what the next goals should be.

A2 #EduSkyAU Innovation has looked quite different in different classrooms I have seen. It has been interesting seeing how the Research Project and PLP in SACE has evolved in SA towards EIF and AIF as a state curriculum requiring every student to do an extended project of interest.

A1 #EduSkyAU The General Capabilities in the Australian Curriculum includes 'Critical and Creative Thinking' at the same level as Numeracy and Literacy? But there seems to be issues on defining creativity and creative thinking.... This would be an interesting area for more development.

A5 #EduSkyAU - When I do more inquiry based tasks I am really trying to push the students to set the questions and let them explore them. This does create a level of chaos, but the curiosity and exploration feel more authentic than when I give stepped 'investigation' for students to follow.

A4 #EduSkyAU (benefit of being late is getting to answer out of order) I've heard different definitions for Explicit Teaching, but the consistent point is clarity on what is to be learnt. In our current system this seems to be the most efficient method to teach what is required to be taught.

We have had a very busy week preparing for @idm314.bsky.social on Friday. The library staff showed me how to use @goosechase.com with AAMTs scavenger hunt and we had students with iPads in library searching for octagons, percentages and roman numerals. #EduSkyAU #EduSky #MathsToday

A2 #EduSkyAU I have noticed this also impacts students who think they are 'good at a subject', for me this is usually Maths. Then it gets hard and they have their identity impacted from a 'bad' mark. We are all on growth journeys.

A3 #EduSkyAU I feel like a good PLN can help stretch, refine and 'sharpen' (as a previous comment said) I find contributing and getting feedback/ideas can be valuable. This keeps us as educators being creators of learning, not just regurgitating the curriculum.

A3 #EduSkyAU I think the relationships can come from multiple interactions, I've been really impressed by teachers with 200+ students in their classes, plus 100s of staff and 1000s of other students that remember still remember doing a PD some months/years ago.

Consider the theoretical limitations on LLMs (paper: arxiv.org/abs/2412.02975 ) shows AGI arising from an LLM is not just a scaling issue. It sounds like something beyond Transformers needed for complex composite problems. How will AI continues to evolve, beyond Reasoning models and Deepseek?

#EduSkyAU A3 I like to give students choices around the room that helps them make the space their own. I also like to adjust the collective noun to relate to them, I've been using "Mathematician" with my classes recently.
