Editor's note: In letters sent after the Oct. 8 U.S.
Senate debate between Abdul El-Sayed and Mike Rogers, most writers either viewed the debate as a wash, or believed El-Sayed was the winner. We strive to present a fair reflection of reader sentiment when publishing letters to the editor, but the two letters from readers who considered Rogers the winner contained racial and ethnic slurs - as well as demonstrably false claims about El-Sayed - and thus did not meet our standards for publication.

Wow. Turns out the formula of entering a burgeoning sports space, writing a sensationalism book, positioning herself as an expert, and subsequently spewing a bunch of false/misleading narratives with no journalistic integrity is not new for Brennan. This is truly wild.

My mental health became markedly better when I left that dumpster fire of a platform. Not being fed rage bait by bots and bad actors desperately trying to convince you that the whole world has succumbed to their brain worms is, as it turns out, a great way to lower stress!

NY have also screwed up timeout usage at other times this year, even earlier this game using the Q4 reset to advance the ball with no apparent play in place, then having to use a full anyway. Stewart has some credibility; they don't, really. The refs may have screwed up, but NY definitely did. #WNBA

No but like the whole point of "facts" is you're not supposed to be able to disagree with them. You can disagree about interpretation, context, impact, whatever, but facts are facts. Treating people that refuse to acknowledge true facts as valid is no basis for conversation.

Listening to the replay center review of ISU's overturned interception made me question my comprehension bc nothing I heard led me to believe that would be the call?

All I have to say about Aiden Flora is I lived down the street from his high school and they, like many, used a cannon to celebrate touchdowns. There were regular complaints on community pages on the topic, because they scored A LOT 😅

Losing possession of the ball for technicals/flagrants has a long history of controversy in basketball and this is why- being the second person called in a fairly brief sequence but not being classified as a double foul means the penalty is significantly stronger for the reactor, not the instigator.

Jamie Steyer Johnson @jsteyz.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
The Valkyries hit a shot as the initial flagrant was called and it counted, so if I wrote the rules I'd say it should be Wings ball. By the letter of the law, I get why it goes as it did, but I dislike it a lot.

Jamie Steyer Johnson @jsteyz.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
I went to the rulebook after as well, I get why technically it isn't a double foul (though I think that the definition should be changed, because penalizing a reaction more than instigating is inherently unfair) but is there actual explanation of the sequential flagrants in the book?

That's a foul. Once the ball is in midair, everyone has equal right to it. James gets there first, Williams hits her arm. Foul. #WNBA

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS RESEARCH STUDY?
The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of witnessing digital body-based abuse directed at women athletes, coaches, and sports personnel. Specifically, we evaluate how exposure to this abuse within women's sport fandom spaces affects women fans, focusing on body surveillance, self-image, and their overall sense of belonging.

WHO WILL BE IN THIS RESEARCH STUDY?
Women who identify as women's sport fans will be recruited on social media fan pages (e.g., Reddit). Approximately 300 participants are being recruited. Participants must be at least 18 years old.

According to a meeting I was in, UMass estimates that if the capacity of these tools were maxed out by student, faculty, staff users, the total cost to the university would be $130,000/day, or about $47 million / year.
