I really wish there were some regulation of the max speed. Lots of kids with these on campus and they zip through so fast at times that between hearing the sound and looking to see where it's coming from you'd have no times to actually react when walking.

I realize that this is dangerously close to a West Wing bit but 31% of the population approve of the job he's doing and 44% would still vote for him. 13% don't like the job he's doing and would STILL VOTE FOR HIM ANYWAY. WHAT IS THEIR DAMAGE?

There are several blue states where there are tight races that you might not expect. I'd thinkg that the anti-incumbency vibe from 2024 would continue in 2026. What has happened that would cause it to pass?

Which would matter less if people had an income proportional to their productivity, but that's a different conversation altogether.

This was about Texas but it applies broadly. Enjoy their suffering, even if it's ephemeral, you deserve it. Lighten up and feast on the temporary sorrow.

Look, I'm going to enjoy the vibes coming off of this polling because 1) it makes Republicans miserable and their misery sustains me and 2) it costs me nothing if the polling is wrong because we'll lose a race everyone expected us to lose anyway.

Especially when the limb they're out on is one shakes the foundations of political common wisdom. It would be a lot easier to take a hit on being wrong about, say, Nebraska or South Carolina. Texas flipping is a source of mass psychic damage.

Anything not done by Congressional action can be undone, and there will be an army of people ready and able to do it.

Some students don't find their major until halfway through their second year. I switched twice. Classics -> Chemistry -> Biochemistry

The only theory of Trump you need is that it is always and forever about him to the expense of everyone else. All things flow from there.

casually confirming the stroke theory of Trump in a "campaign" speech is super on brand for him though

Allow me to give just one example: the town of ~10k I live in has dwindled from 8 schools to 3 in less than ten years because of RW voucher progs and charter schools. We are lost and will only vote for the better when no other option is available. Spend your time and money elsewhere.

While I'm on the same side of this sentiment, people don't realize how far right the combination of population loss and gerrymandering have transformed this state. We are closer to Montana and South Dakota than most people seem to appreciate.

Here it is. Turns out it was the White House directly.

White House Officials Told the DOJ to Delay Action on Abortion Ahead of the Midterms
Attorney General Todd Blanche has moved slowly in abortion pill litigation and department officials have told advocates to wait until after the election.

Thought I saw a story the other day that some official types (RNC I think?) said that abortion being salient would sink them worse, I'll see if I can find it.

Even if you take the trans issue out, the foundation of their logic on bathrooms is still rotten dumbshittery. People who think a gun law won't stop gun crime believe that a bathroom sign will stop someone determined to assault a woman.

Just as a general riff on the thread, my desire to be as annoying as possible to things I find intrusive is tempered by the fact that they are mostly folks just trying to get through life and make a living. Give them a GD chair for Pete's sake.

Honestly, I think it's a lot easier to generate pathos for internet personalities through TikTok (and to a lesser extent Instagram) because video and audio are generally more compelling, so the platform has shifted as tech advanced.

The quality has gone through the roof lately, though it does seem like they've finally become a bit more circumspect about to whom they license the IP Darktide, Rogue Trader, SM3 all really good. Heck, even Boltgun was silly fun.

This is why they went so hard on indirect costs/overhead in the first round of this. That money goes directly to universities to pay for core facilities and upkeep/maintenance costs.

Do not forget that Linda McMahon covered up the systematic abuse of young boys by two of her employees and personally hired them back after they were fired, after which they continued their systematic abuse.

I got lunch from a local takeout place, but I work at a state uni so I understood and honestly it was the most pomp and circumstance I had ever received (my first job was at a regional campus so they brought in the equivalent of a sack lunch) but seeing how PI treats applicants is so wild
