Hard to overstate how much Hegseth's execution stream mirrors the U.S. military's traditional description of ISIS propaganda: broadcast killings designed to send a message, strike fear and create a social media spectacle. Will almost certainly be repurposed by online terror cells

Exactly. Every other language has a reason for its design, and for choosing to use it, but with Go my reaction to both was just “why?”

Fantastic. And so true. Have we ever seen Trump enjoying a concert or any other art? He seems devoid of normal human emotion

I make occasional use of AI tools at work. As well as configuring it to leave out all the sycophancy I have told it not to use first person and report what it has done in passive voice (which got me a bit of grief from people who knew and also knew I wrote our style guide)

You guys want to hear a short but adorable story that happened right in front of me at the baggage claim in NYC yesterday? I wasn't part of it and there are bits I didn't catch but holy crap, I can't stop thinking about it.

Add to that, I don't think an application to rejoin could be made, or taken seriously, until the UK has shown a consistently positive view for at least 2 or 3 consecutive governments. So, increasingly likely to not happen in my lifetime

He has a nice statue in Arezzo
Statue of Guido d'Arezzo in Piazza Guido Monaco, ArezzoPhoto of (part of) the statue's explanatory signage: "Guido d'Arezzo (992 to about 1033) a Benedictine monk musical theorist and choir master of the children's choir of the Arezzo Cathedr Thanks to the Bishop Tedald, he found in the Bishopric school of the Pionta hill, an illuminated and refined cultural environment which favoured the development of his genial intuitions, so much so that scholars agree that Guido created musical notation when he was the master of the Choir School of the Pionta in Arezzo
Starting from the study of previous musical theory, Guido completed that revolutionary musical innovation which changed the history of western music, allowing the preservation of musical traditions through writing. To him we owe the refinement of the system of musical notation on lines, from which modern musical writing on the pentagram derives, the final Anglo-Saxon structure which uses the seven letters of the alphabet, from A to G and a method for teaching music that reduced the training time of an ecclesiastic cantor from ten years to one."

Protestors go out on the streets in groups, sometimes with distinctive clothing and slogans, to get action on specific issues. We, on the other hand, go out on the streets in groups, with distinctive clothing and slogans, to get action on specific issues. Totally different, as you can see.

Let me tell you a story about how top-end menswear retail transformed over the last hundred years. 🧵
Fiorinamarietta on Threads writes: "The death of department stores as an EXPERIENCE needs to be studied. You used to be able to buy a dress, have lunch, get your hair done, smell every perfume in existence and leave carrying beautifully wrapped boxes. Shopping used to be an event."
