Ultimately, this app coupled with open research information brings daily relief and complements human curation, which remains fundamental for data quality ! And you, what is your workflow to feed and enrich your repository?

Our team can then validate or reject these candidates. Once confirmed, an automated job imports the validated candidates.

Third use case: researcher-level monitoring. Using external sources and ORCID, the system compares external outputs with our repository, infers IDs, and generates a "gap" view for each profile.

Second use case: #OpenAccess enrichment. By cross-referencing our repository's content with OpenAlex, a dedicated job identifies missing OA records. This allows us to systematically spot publications that could be flipped to Open Access. #OpenScience

This daily feed populates a curation dashboard. Our team uses it to verify affiliations, manage deduplication, handle versioning (e.g., linking preprints to published versions), and retrieve available full texts and OA metadata.

First use case: automated imports from Scopus, WoS, OpenAlex, Crossref & DataCite, etc. for outputs with EPFL authors. The pipeline handles data fetching, metadata mapping, and reconciliation with our internal author and unit registries.

A short description states: “Exploring metadata workflows through a pilot survey of institutional repositories.”
On the right, a stylized illustration shows a database connected by arrows to three folders, representing metadata flows between systems.

Julien Sicot @jsicot.bsky.social · 01/05/2026

Mapping Swiss Institutional Repositories: A National Survey Dataset (NAIF Track 3)
This dataset contains the survey instrument and pseudonymized response dataset produced by Track 3 of the NAIF project (National Approach for Interoperable Repositories and Findable Research Results), a national initiative co-funded by swissuniversities and eight Swiss higher education institutions (ETH Library, University of Zurich, EPFL, ZHAW, PHSG, University of Fribourg, University of Neuchâtel, and University of St.Gallen), running from July 2025 to December 2026. The survey mapped how institutional repositories across Swiss higher education are governed, technically configured, and sustained, covering infrastructure, metadata practices, interoperability, and long-term sustainability. It was administered via SurveyHero between November 5, 2025 and January 15, 2026, targeting swissuniversities-accredited institutions and institutions participating in the Swiss Open Access Monitor. The dataset contains 35 completed responses representing 39 institutions. The full analysis — including descriptive statistics, thematic findings, gap analysis, and recommendations — will be published as a separate report later in 2026.
