I realized I never shared this on here! I MADE A MOVIE! Four and a half years of blood, sweat, and tears. It's been in my head longer, but to get it almost exactly on screen as I saw it in my head was a lot harder than I thought... Here it is: Ruleta! A holiday noir. youtu.be/Kthpe_HrtTM?...

Decided to take advantage of the Flash Sale for the Criterion Collection. A lot of films that I love, one new watch for research purposes, and a pre-order that I couldn't help but cop because man... @realgdt.bsky.social's Nightmare Alley is too enticing to pass up. I HAVE to see that B&W version.

Got to see Kevin Smith today at the El Paso Film Festival today, and was BLESSED by Lloyd Kaufman of Troma! Ran into the latter twice and he told a dad joke to my fiancé. What a night. What a town.

Guys, Gwen and Jen are good people. Not only have they been friends and moreso for a LONG TIME, but they are both genuinely talented and lovely people, and they deserve to be able to try to live their best lives imaginable. Please donate. Help them live how they're meant to.

Having heard a bit of it... this is something really fun and special. And I really think it'll stay in your head for years to come.

This is my favorite film of the year, and while it was edged out by a really stacked couple of months of bigger movies, the fact its on digital means EVERYONE can watch it! Do yourself a favor and check it out! It's absolutely beautiful!

NEW VIDEO! I'm horrifically late, but I still wanted to do my favorite and least favorite first time watches of last year. This is a different type of video than I usually do, but I wanted to experiment with ranking videos and top 10 lists. Lemme know what you think! www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2bg...

Usually I don't like chasing the algorithm. Often I feel like although I love my videos, there are some that I tried to bring something new to the table but I maybe made an OKAY video. Not great, but good. But I'm making an exception. I got something to say...

From the looks of it, we're getting a triple header of 10/10 Stephen King adaptations! The Life of Chuck is King's heart by Mike Flanagan. The Long Walk is King's tension and fear by Francis Lawrence. And The Running Man is King's sense of action and humor by Edgar Wright.

Look... I don't mean to be THAT GUY... but part of what makes The Social Network work is the precise direction of David Fincher. I dunno... I don't hate Sorkin like a lot of people, and a sequel makes sense given EVERYTHING since 2010. But it's like getting Ron Howard to do The Social Network.

In a generation that has had nothing but history making events thrust on them without consent or without reason (9/11, the housing crisis, COVID, the January 6th insurrection, Gaza and Ukraine, and now this)... I am genuinely... for the first time in my life, completely scared for my country.

The episode will be out at some point, but it was a joy to introduce this to @chimerafilms.bsky.social and @gwenlovesmovies.bsky.social. I saw this with @thebearhimself.bsky.social and a bunch of my friends IRL, and fell head over heels. I cannot sing Streets of Fire's praises NEARLY ENOUGH.

I have a segment coming up in my new video later about the beauty of Love and Mercy (2014), but I feel it doesn't begin to scratch the surface of how monumental of a talent Brian Wilson was. A visionary, poet, a sensitive soul. You listen to one of his songs, you hear his soul sing. He's THAT GOOD.

Still finishing up with the favorites/least favorites. And man... the favorites have been SO MUCH easier to edit... but there's this heavy feeling when you edit a film from Alfred Hitchcock. Like -- you're cutting up gold in Adobe, and you wanna get across how good it really is... y'know?

I'm just... I'm genuinely speechless. It's kinda been this unspoken thing, and he's been coy about it here and there... but there it is. He's just -- he said it! And what makes it worse for me is the guy in the back screaming "WOOOO --" like they're happy he said it.

Y'know, as a birthright citizen of the US, I've found the worries of my adopted mom that she's had since Trump 1.0 to be baseless. There's no way that they'd do this, and there's no way that they'd try to just take me away... ... sometimes I wonder if I was just too naive or too hopeful...

000

Joshua Lozano @jshlozano.bsky.social · 25/04/2025

So... the ranking of favorites/least favorites of last year will FINALLY BE UP next week, come hell or high water. There's been A LOT of stuff going on in real life that's slowed me down, and I've nearly finished my research on the Not Like Us/Family Matters video. I swear, life's gotta ease up.

One last thing, in case it wasn't clear: This isn't for people who are triggered by stories that feature SA, as that's a genuinely understandable trigger that should be respected. This is for the SWT's out there who deride it's inclusion because "the Empire wouldn't condone it!" It's possible.

000

Joshua Lozano @jshlozano.bsky.social · 24/04/2025

If anyone watches THAT SCENE in Andor S02E03 and either A) doesn't feel a profound tightening in their chests or stomachs, B) doesn't interrogate why they feel that way, or C) doesn't consider WHY that was included in a story like this to begin with? Sad to say... the plot is incredibly lost here.

Yknow what? Nintendo may never do it, but I'd say don't even release the Switch 2 in the US. Not until this tariff bullshit is sorted out. Japan and everywhere else will eek out a profit. But the US doesn't deserve it.

010

Joshua Lozano @jshlozano.bsky.social · 31/03/2025

So replacing all currency in the US with crypto... which we've already seen - LITERALLY during Trump 2.0 - with the meme coin he did with Melania during the Inauguration completely flat-lining... and is way more fickle than the stock market (which has already started crashing worst than in 1929)...

010

Joshua Lozano @jshlozano.bsky.social · 27/03/2025

At what point are they not even characters and just glorified extras with a really expensive price tag? Also, I give it FIVE DOLLARS that we'll get Andrew Garfield, Tobey Maguire, The Fox Fantastic 4 (both versions), James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicolas Cage, Ben Affleck, and Terence Stamp.

000

Joshua Lozano @jshlozano.bsky.social · 26/03/2025

Man, I would work with Rachel Zegler in a heartbeat. The disgusting harassment and derangement she's been receiving is absolutely insane, and it's kinda disgusting how they try to frame her being pro-Palestine as being responsible for Gal Gadot's death threats. She truly doesn't deserve this hate.
