It could work in conjunction with light rail, and bus lanes are essentially replaced by SDEV, with smaller shuttles and sedan-sized sdev mixed in. It solves the "How will I get my kids to hockey" question that's kept 15 minute cities mostly theoretical jsherman999.github.io/pubtrans_15_...

They seem to have gone right to an Apple-friendly optimization. Really you can see why Apple stock is so healthy, any small co or dept office could could buy two M5 Ultra clusters for $70K today and have most AI needs met. $70K has been 'dept server' price for decades, now apple can just step in

affordable SDEV could become the future of public transit. It delivers the convenience of owning a car (doorstep-doorstep 24x7 via phone app) without the cost and emmisions of a personal ICE car. 15-minute city plus SDEV public transit = affordable single-family housing can move out to exurbia

Regardless of what LLM is capable of, you're out in front of a conversation we'll all be having 2 years from now if not sooner. There's nothing supernatural about brain tissue ;) Luckily for us ASI will not require consciousness

I built a thing. I LOVED making it. It's called TinyLittleOffice. It's a web office suite (word processor, outliner, decks, spreadsheet, calculator, drawing tool, diagram maker, animator, calendar, trip planner) that stores the docs in your URL. tinylittleoffice.com?c=hgmcggn#/v...

Yeah, that's a great idea and well implemented. Smaller docs can be interactively shared and even worked on without local storage, just in-browser

Bluesky: Briganding, dogpiling, labelling, hipster block lists. X is a cesspool but Bluesky is a Karen-filled HOA. I said a few years ago that the block list mentality will make BS 'safer' for a while but it gets boring having every response be the choir singing "I know, right?" even for scolds.

LLM = not currently conscious, prob not capable of it as-is But it would be fully possible to eventually create an artificial consciousness if we wanted to. Good news is that ASI does not seem to require it. jsherman999.github.io/three-theori...

My layman's understanding of the different theories of consciousness feels limiting, especially in light of stuff & stuff maybe on the way I asked Opus 5.5 to build me three theorists, steeped in their arcana ;) (byok) jsherman999.github.io/three-theori...

.. companies also can't replace experienced coders with middle management making coding decsisions with the help of an agent, either (and they're finding that out) SME + Agent = superpower

Bitey @jsherman999.bsky.social · 23h
aside: I struggle to articulate this well but look at this page of areas they evaluated this model in Now, if you're a coder-type, imagine if your boss said "now I want you to use an agent to make corporate decisions on 'SPAC/De-SPAC Room' financial decisions for the company. " SME = important

Is this the toaster and smart fridge thing? There is no Glonzo out there coming for your toast or to enslave you although it may judge the contents of your fridge (incidentally 'now is the time to panic' is almost never the historical course to take ;)

my guess: there were/are other members of Trump admin doing exactly this (asking people who want favors to pay them cash directly for access) and were literally bragging about it. Kim G witnessed that both terms and figured she could run up a CC bill because she knew where the bodies were buried

the clarifying questions you ask about that problem are *key* in a technical portion of the interview. If the initerviewer hears you asking the same questions the team asked while trying to solve the problem, that interview ends with you at the top of the list.

.. questions, consider asking a variation of: "Can you describe a problem your department/company is having right now?" listen carefully, and then lay out a very high level approach you'd take to solve that very problem, probably using a harness during some of it, and ask clarifying questions.

Some advice for job seekers, FWIW: The idea of 'forward deploy engineer' is a powerful one in corporate america rn. You have not been a FDE because the job title is brand new, but you probably fully have the ability to be one internally someplace. When the interviewer asks if you have any >

but all the most-likely paths ahead point to prices going down. RAM, RAM throughput, SOC personal systems, API charges, companies buying local systems again as a price negotiation pressure for enterprise contracts. $6K SOC boxes will be $1.5 K boxes in 2 years, API prices will have to drop.

hosted non-frontier LLM capability ^ API charges for usable LLM v cost of RAM ^ If RAM cost ever dives, Jevon's Paradox is going to apply across the board and everyone will be very busy making new things

That's the domain that has seen the largest impact. Deluge of poorly tested features, but it's mixed in with progress on projects tha wouldn't have seen the light of day otherwise. It's not nec easy to get this type of talent through HR though, which might lead to your problem.
