Started for me before retirement in '18. Boy, did I feel stupid for experiencing a crippling identity crisis. I may be coming out of it. 🤞
Because if you’ve built your entire identity around software and tech, around being a programmer, around being a tech person who works to enable “progress” and drive the world to the future, you’re going to have a bad time after being pushed out of that role and seeing your former industry studiously dismantle everything you thought you were building.

Hmm. Wonder what form the BBB was actually supposed to appear in? Beast appears, finds the deed done already by stupid people.
In the 14th episode of The Power Puff Girls Season 1, the origin story of the PPGs and their nemesis, Mojo Jojo is told.

It turns out Mojo Jojo was Professor Utonium's inept lab assistant, Jojo, who inadvirtently broke a flask containing Chemical X, getting some on himself and an experiment Prof. U. was working on.

This resulted in Mojo's transformation from a common monkey, and the experiment into the PPGs.

The irony stuns Mojo, who is reduced to muttering to himself, over and over, "It was me.", because he is responsible for his arch enemies, the PPGs, and his own misery.

The boardroom suggestion meme. Panel 1) angry AI company boss says they have to get control of the AI panic about it's threat to humanity. Panel 2) two corporate drones offer solutions: study it or ask their captive regulators to make rules that 'block' them from continuing to improve their AI models and saving their bacon in the markets. The bright young man asks why don't they just ask the AI how it's going to destroy humanity and then tell it not to do that. Last panel, an exterior view of the building, shows the bright young man flying out through the broken window, thrown by the angry boss.

Wait. Secret? As in the rest of the world didn't notice either? Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit coffee ... <obligatory>
An instance of the running gag "Looks like i picked the wrong week to quit" coping vice, from the disaster movie spoof Airplane. Steve McCroskey, veteran Traffic Controller, played by Lloyd Bridges, meets each of the escalating emergencies with this lament, followed instantly with resumption of yet another escalating vice.

If you see this quote the energy you bring to Bluesky. See alt text.
A comic scene visually quoting a guillotine execution during The French Revolution.
Panel 1: a morose, resigned to his fate Pepe the right-wing meme frog is in the guillotine. The indifferent executioner asks, "Any last words?".
2: Pepe's face brightens. He seizes the opportunity to utter his most potent rebuke, "So much for the tolerant left.".
3: He looks out to the crowd, smiling, hoping for a response of realization of their hypocracy. There is none.
4: The executioner pulls the lanyard releasing the blade. The correct rejoinder. Pepe's head is chopped off.

Far Side comic "A Feast for Kings.". Two spiders have spun a web across a frame on the low end of an oddly constructed playground slide with intention of catching children in it. One spider exclaims "If we pull this off, we'll eat like kings!".

The colors match the Google search colors!
A man is indoors, pumping a bicycle tire pump that is attached to a TV screen that has a stock graph on it. Each time he pushes down, the graph end goes up some, but as he rises up to pump again, the graph goes down again.

The connection is that Alphabet, parent company for Google, which just reported negative net income for the first time in forever, is attempting to maintain its stock price in spite of huge expenses wrt AI infrastructure.

Whew.

For instance, this was in the article.
“We already have so many issues in our community, including environmental issues. I just don’t understand the concept of adding AI onto that,” said local parent Sierra Abrams, who learned about the technology in a district Facebook post. “Bringing it into the school district is contradicting everything we believe, in my opinion.”

NYT is mystified by who could have degraded the DOJ so much as to allow this to occur, might put some junior reporter on the case.
In the 14th episode of The Power Puff Girls Season 1, the origin story of the PPGs and Mojo Jojo is told.
It turns out Mojo Jojo was Professor Utonium's inept lab assistant, Jojo, who inadvirtently broke a flask containing Chemical X, getting some on himself and an experiment Prof. U. was working on.

The irony stuns Mojo, who is reduced to muttering to himself, over and over, "It was me.", because he is responsible for his arch enemies, the PPGs, and his own misery.

Because the NYT seems impervious to such self-reflection as to the cause of the DOJ harassment of its journalists, this came to mind.

Also ironic is that I'm explaining this joke, ruining any surprise value.

Remember kids: If he's always pushing violence, he's a Fed.
Lyrics to He's a Fed

If he'll drive you to the criming, he's a Fed
If he'll drive you to the criming, he's a Fed
If you can't get there without him
And you don't know much about him
If he'll drive you to the criming, he's a Fed

If his friend has got the weapons, he's a Fed
If his friend has got the weapons, he's a Fed
If you're running off your mouth
And his buddy lives down South
If his friend has got the weapons, he's a Fed

If he's got a stupid haircut, he's a Fed
If he's got a stupid haircut, he's a Fed
If his haircut's tight and high
Looks better in a suit and tie
If he's got a stupid haircut, he's a Fed

If he says you don't need OPSEC, he's a Fed
If he says you don't need OPSEC, he's a Fed
If he wants you to repeat it
Where the chatroom won't delete it
If he says you don't need OPSEC, he's a Fed

If he's always pushing violence, he's a Fed
If he's always pushing violence, he's a Fed
If he wants you to start killin'
'Cause his bosses need a villain
If he's always pushing violence, he's a Fed

If he says his plan is foolproof, he's a Fed
If he says his plan is foolproof, he's a Fed
If the plan is his design
And he's sharing it online
If he says his plan is foolproof, he's a Fed

If he'll sell you auto switches, he's a Fed
If he'll sell you auto switches, he's a Fed
If he links you to a site
And he tells you it's alright
If he'll sell you auto switches, he's a Fed

If he’s wearing high-end khakis, he’s a Fed
If he’s wearing high-end khakis, he’s a Fed
Polo shirt and Rayban shades
MAGA sign is not homemade
If he’s wearing high-end khakis, he’s a Fed

Reminds me of an old William S Burroughs maybe fictional story.
"The scion of a well-known banking family once told me a family secret. When a certain stage of responsibility and awareness has been reached by a young banker he is taken to a room lined with family portraits in the middle of which is an ornate gilded toilet. Here he comes every day to defecate surrounded by the family portraits until he realizes that money is shit. And what does the money machine eat to shit it out? It eats youth, spontaneity, life, beauty and above all it eats creativity. It eats quality and shits out quantity. There was a time when the machine ate in moderation from a plentiful larder and what it ate was replaced. Now the machine is eating faster much faster than what it eats can be replaced. That is why by its nature money is worth always less. People want money to buy what the machine eats to shit money out. The more the machine eats the less remains. So your money buys always less. This process is now escalating geometrically. If the West does not start a nuclear war first their monetary system will fall apart through the inexorable consumption by the machine of life art flavor beauty to make more and more shit which buys less and less life art flavor beauty because there is less and less to buy. The machine is eating it all. The time must come when money will buy nothing because there will be nothing left for money to buy. Money will eliminate itself."

- Minutes To Go, 1959. William S. Burroughs

Scene from the movie "No Country for Old Men", in which the villain Anton Chigurh tells a man he intends to kill in order to steal his car "hold still, please." so that he can place the device in his hand, a compressed air powered ram used to kill livestock, on the man's forehead.

Key Details
Location: The sign has been spotted by motorists on Interstate 35 (I-35), specifically south of Minneapolis and just north of Albert Lea, Minnesota.
Funding and Campaign: While the specific organization behind this exact sign layout is not explicitly named in every sighting, similar "former voter" billboard campaigns are primarily funded by Republican Voters Against Trump (RVAT).
Purpose: These advertisements are designed to showcase testimonials from former supporters of Donald Trump to persuade other conservative-leaning or independent voters to withhold their support in upcoming elections.
Broader Campaign: The RVAT project is part of a multi-million dollar nationwide advertising initiative that includes hundreds of video testimonials and physical billboards in key swing states.

Mitt Romney and Donald Trump at a dining table at Mar-a-Lago when Romney sought an endorsement from Trump. They settled on Romney surrendering his soul for the endorsement.

Trump appears very pleased and Romney appears as one might expect after soul extraction.

A four panel comic. Pepe the frog, a meme character used by the alt-right, is secured in a guillotine in a scene suggesting the French Revolution. In panel one, the executioner asks "Any last words?". In panel 2 Pepe replies "So much for the tolerant left.". In panel three, in a comedic pause, Pepe looks out to the crowd to appeal his fate. In panel 4, the executioner, without change of expression, pulls the lanyard to the guillotine blade, chopping off Pepe's head. The area below the execution platform is covered in chopped off heads.
