One thing I'll miss, because we'll never get broadcasting like this again - is when Vin Scully would share a story about baseball of yesteryear. This was Vin's account of seeing Sandy Koufax at his Brooklyn Dodgers try out. 📼: MLB

There is a book club organization out there emailing authors telling them the club will feature their work for a "modest fee" for "branded materials" etc. Do not fall for this nonsense. You should never, as a writer, have to pay for such things.

I don't know even what to say about the beauty of a simple free breakfast in lunch for all. My kid gets to kindergarten, and the teacher says, "OK, who's hungry?" Great for every kid in the room, especially those whose parents could afford it anyway. Every kid has fuel. Who wouldn't want that?

Good Superman stories are almost never about who wins the fights. They're about how to solve the problems. Superman can do massive, mighty things. The story is about his figuring out what massive, mighty things he should do. About understanding, not about overpowering.

Also a repeat of the idea that because of events in L.A., Congress should pass the wildly unpopular omnibus bill that cuts Medicaid, SNAP, energy credits, and so on.

"It gets somewhat lost in all the other high octane dimensions of this story that a raid on a Home Depot is literally an effort to arrest people who are eager to work and whose labor is in great demand. It’s about as far as you can get from just going after the bad guys, as the WH routinely claims."

“There are two ideas of government. There are those who believe that, if you will only legislate to make the well-to-do prosperous, their prosperity will leak through on those below. The Democratic idea, however, has been that if you legislate to make the masses prosperous…
