A LONG WINTER is bolstered by a captivating performance from Fred Hechinger that’s layered and soulful. But that alone cannot help save the film’s total lack of momentum which struggles to build a more engaging character study. Haigh’s usual talents are wasted in this dry commentary.

THE LIFE AND DEATHS OF WILSON SHEDD weaves an intriguing tale of damaged individuals trying to escape their turmoil. Its thematic commentary isn’t always complex, but the performances from Scoot McNairy and Amanda Seyfried are compelling. Heavy reminders of Dead Man Walking.

CLARISSA is a richly textured examination of intriguing characters and their deep bonds with each other. It takes a while to fully settle in, but once it does, the storytelling becomes engaging. Sophie Okonedo and India Amarteifio lead a wonderful ensemble.

It’s crazy how Eric Roberts, who says yes to EVERYTHING, has not been in a film produced by the Daily Wire.

They both should have won the Oscar for this movie.

YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING is a wild and engrossing portrait, one that speaks to a perception of infamous figures and how truthful that showcase may be. Fielder and Oppenheim allow the narrative to evolve in surprising, captivating ways. A bit tedious in spots but still fascinating.

Very difficult for me to come up with any other descriptor of The Social Reckoning other than, "it's fine."

Today, I got to experience THE DEVILS on 35mm. I’m in constant awe of Ken Russell’s twisted vision, a glorious fever dream interrogating religious hypocrisy bathed in captivity imagery. Derek Jarman’s sets are incredible. Head to @musicboxtheatre.bsky.social to see this glorious film print.

SENSE AND SENSIBILITY is a great adaptation of the classic novel that presents the narrative in such a captivating manner. The exceptional crafts highlight an effective tale of love and yearning. Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esmé Creed-Miles lead a terrific ensemble. An utter delight.

Was such a joy to see Aliens on 70mm. A great movie. Also once again have to say that Michael Biehn in the 80s was a vision.

Everybody is aware of "iPhone face" but there is also another group of people that are guys with physiques that could only be attained through modern workout methods that are cast in period films (I'm looking at you Miguel Bernardeau in La Bola Negra, beautiful though you are)

I think happens if Universal doesn’t submit The Odyssey or La Bola Negra wins Best Picture - Drama. Either is possible.

Just had an image of The Odyssey winning that stupid box office award at the Golden Globes and Christopher Nolan being forced to accept and it made me laugh.

FJORD presents an engrossing conversation about personal freedom that effectively engages with preconceived notions in a compelling manner. That is, for the first 90 minutes, after which it spins its wheels in the courtroom with blunt commentary. Stan and Reinsve are great.

It’s difficult to say exactly why Digger is so frustrating without going into specific plot details, but I did my best to articulate why this is yet another Iñárritu dud for me and possibly his most annoying film yet. Riz Ahmed innocent. nextbestpicture.com/digger/

The History of Concrete is one of the most riveting and engrossing movies I've seen this year. Its observations are both humorous and surprisingly insightful, and the random directions it seems to take end up becoming quite provocative. I loved it so much.
